In addition to our usual reviews, January found us testing and experimenting with several different machines -- the Ascaso Uno Pro with PID, the Breville Die Cast, the  Handpresso with Domepod and the new MyPressi TWIST portable espresso maker.
Brown Bean: Manufacturer Manuals
Misplace that user manual? We hunted down nearly 150 different manuals in PDF format for espresso machines, coffee makers, grinders and roasters -- and we're always adding more. It's a great resource to check if you lost your manual and would like a copy.
Ask the Experts
Q. I'm not sure which type of machine will suit my needs. Can you explain their functional differences?

A. Sure, we throw around 'superautomatic' and 'semi-automatic' all the time, but we have customers that are either new to home espresso or interested in upgrading their machine and they're not certain what the different names mean or why they'd want one type over another.

To that end, we recently wrote a more detailed descriptions of the functional differences between the main classes of machines, so that's a good place to get a better idea of how these machines work.

Then we asked Gail to talk to us about these different machines, why you would and wouldn't want to buy a machine of a specific type. If you're interested in learning more, check out the video of her explaining the functionality differences, pros and cons of superautomatics, automatics, semi-automatics (including pressurized, non-pressurized or pod functionality), capsule and manual/lever machines.
