...in a way that few things have been in the last fifty years. With proper grind (which needs to be especially fine and from a grinder that doesn't overheat the grinds) and tamping with a non-pressurized basket, you can get espresso to brew slowly and richly enough to match the results on any professional machine (which saves me a lot of money on buying coffee out). Combined with my Baratza Virtuoso grinder, I don't believe I could do better even if I spent another thousand dollars. I should add expert advice from a customer service representative at Seattle Coffee Gear who was familiar with the quirks of both my espresso machine and my grinder enabled me to achieve my present high level of satisfaction much faster than I could have from my own experiments alone.
