Pros
  • Front Loading - Excellent for smaller kitchens, you can place this coffee maker underneath cupboards and won't have to move it around in order to load with coffee or water
  • Basket Filter - Permanent filter is washable and means you'll never have to purchase paper filters again
  • Aroma Button -  Initiating a slower brew, this setting will fully extract the flavor from your coffee, resulting in stronger and tastier coffee

Cons
  • Poor Clock/Timer Setting - You can't set the hour and minute separately, so you have to cycle through the 24 hour clock in order to set the timer to brew in the future
  • Long Brew Time - Many consider the length of the brew to be excessively long and slower than other coffee makers, but you can get around this by using the timer setting
  • Temperature Issues - The temperature of the coffee has mixed reviews: Some folks think it's not hot enough, while others find it perfectly warm, especially if you use the cup warming feature on the top of the machine. If you're someone who wants your coffee to start out scalding hot so that it can cool down in your travel mug on the way to work, this machine might not be the one for you

How it Works
Easily prep the machine from the front by opening the door, filling the water channel and pouring grounds in the coffee filter.

You can select a longer brew cycle by pushing the 'Aroma Button', which will achieve a full-bodied flavor by advancing through several continuous cycles while water is released into the filter basket in 30-second intervals.

Brew Tip: The filter basket holds up to 10 scoops (scoop included) of coffee grounds, which roughly translates to 10 cups of coffee. Since the carafe can hold up to 12 cups of coffee, you can make stronger coffee by removing the permanent filter basket and then using a standard paper filter, which will hold more coffee grounds.
Care
For detailed care instructions, please refer to your machine's user manual. We recommend that you also incorporate the following into your cleaning routine:
  • Rinse out permanent filter basket on a regular basis
  • Wipe warming plate on a regular basis to keep any 'burnt coffee' smell from permeating the surroundings

    • Grab a cup quickly with the Pause & Serve -- take the carafe off the warming plate and the brew will pause while you pour yourself a cup.

    • Warm up your mugs by storing them on the top of the machine. The steam will keep your mugs toasty so they won't cool your coffee down.

Excellent coffee maker February 20, 2010

Have had this machine for about a month now - it looks & feels like the quality piece of equipment it is.  Gold filter works great - minimal sediment gets through and the coffee tastes outstanding (recommend using the "aroma" setting even though it takes longer to brew).  The clock & timer setting is a little tedious since you can only go forward  - it can take 30 -40 seconds to set.  Of course if you don't change it too often no big deal.  Highly recommended.
