Jura Capresso Impressa C5 Super Automatic Coffee Center
|
With its red lighted console glowing against the sleek black body, the Jura Capresso Impressa C5 Super Automatic Coffee Center might remind you of some sort of evil computer from a bad '80s sci-fi flick. But don't let the color scheme fool you: There's nothing nefarious about this compact, fully automatic espresso machine. True, it doesn't have all the functions of its older (and more expensive) relatives in the Capresso line, but the Impressa C5 has a water filtration system, built-in grinder, and a relatively large capacity despite its diminutive stature.
And just like an evil sci-fi computer, this guy will save every setting and a record of all activity. So be careful what secrets you trust with this espresso machine.

Crew Review
Pros
- Compact - But still has a substantial bean hopper and water tank
- Speedy - There's only 60 seconds between programming and your drink
- Affordable - With the host of functions this machine has, its price is a bargin
|
Cons
- Less Control - You have programmable control over the water volume, but not the tempeature or the shot dosage. You can adjust this manually as the shot is brewing
- No Automatic Frothing - Does not have the FrothXpress or one-touch frothing
- Oil-Free - Like most superautomatics, the grinder is not oily bean friendly

How it Works
Add the beans or grind of your choosing, ensure the water tank is sufficiently full, turn the rotary dial and select the symbol to choose between espresso or crema coffee and one or two cups.
Read the manufacturer manual for full instructions on operation.

Features & Accessories
Still not convinced that this machine means you no harm (beyond getting you hooked on smooth, delicious shots)? Check out the suite of features it has to offer.
Components & Functionality
- Small with Hidden Multitudes: Despite the small footprint of the machine, it has a 7-ounce bean container and a 64-ounce water container. You might say it's the TARDIS of espresso makers.
- Duel Frothing: The Dual Frother PLUS, makes it easy to froth or steam milk - in a cup or even a pitcher. Not into lactose? The system also dispenses hot water for cocoa, tea, or to heat up instant soup.
- High-Quality Flavor and Purity: The stainless steel Thermoblock heating system and a 18-bar pressure pump guarantees fully aromatic, high-pressure brewed coffee and a strong layer of crema. The Clearyl Water Filtration System purifies water and reduces the need for decalcification.
- Helpful Maintenance Indicators: Those red indicator lights let you know when the machine needs more water, beans, or is ready for a cleaning. A handy insert slips into a pocket on the front of the machine reminds you what symbol means what.
- Beans or Grounds: Don't want the noise or hassle of grinding yourself? Use the funnel attachment to feed your favorite pre-ground coffee. Rather have the control of your grind? The professional-grade conical steel burr grinder has six fineness settings designed to deliver maximum flavor. Regardless, the Impressa will let you know when it's time for a refill.
Included Accessories
- Measuring Scoop: For perfect portions.
- Clearyl Blue Water Filter: Pure water is the first step to perfect flavor.
- Water Hardness Indicator Strip: Find out how hard your water is (or isn't) so you can program the Impressa to adjust.
