Krups XP5280-Precise Tamp Programmable Espresso Machine
|
This eye-catching sleek yet compact stainless steel espresso machine is ideal for the beginner barista. Unlike most semi-automatic espresso machines, the XP5280 makes extracting an ideal shot easy for even the most inexperienced espresso drinker. With a patented KRUPS Precise Tamp system, this espresso machine compresses any type of coffee ground perfectly by creating pressure normal tamping would take, but in place provides the optimal ground coffee tamp leaving you hands free and with consistent shots every time. But it doesn't end there, after extracting your shot, the XP5280 provides a no-mess cake ejector, where at a push of a button the used espresso grounds come out as a clean cake for disposal.
Features include programed single and double shot buttons, a universal filter holder compatible with ground coffee (for single or double shots) and all types of espresso pods and multi-directional frothing nozzle to perfectly froth your milk for both cappuccinos and lattes.

Crew Review
Pros
- Auto-Tamping - The auto-tamper stands out from the rest as it does not require a separate basket to create pressure. The Krups Precise Tamp (KPT) automatically tamps your coffee grounds to the optimum level for that espresso shot you're looking for.
- Pre-Infusion - To maximize the flavor of your espresso grounds, this machine pre-infuses each cup by pumping and pausing for three seconds until you've extracted the ideal shot.

Cons
- Not So Auto-Frother - This machine may feel like their auto-frother makes your life easier but unfortunately you may be better off making quality micro foam by frothing your milk yourself with the steam wand.
- Aluminum Boiler- Unfortunately this boiler won't retain heat as well as other boilers made of alternative metals.

How it Works
- Fill the water tank with fresh cold water and turn the machine on.
- As soon as the required temperature is achieved, the light will stop flashing
- Add espresso grounds or soft/E.S.E pod into portafilter. Insert the portafilter and turn the handle to the right. You will hear a clicking sound as the Krups Precise Tamp system automatically adjusts the attempting level depending on the amount of grounds or pod used.
- Put one or two cups under the filter holder as desired
- Then press the "1 cup" or "2 cup" button to start filling your cup. When the cups are filled with the desired amount of espresso, remove them.
- Unlock the filter holder by pressing the "OPEN" button on the handle while turning the handle to the left to release, and remove the filter holder from the machine.
- Remove the used espresso grounds using the ejection system by holding the filter holder upside down over a trash receptacle. Press the "EJECT" button located between the coffee outlet nozzles on the underside of the filter holder.
