Baratza Maestro PLUS Burr Grinder
|
Small but imposing, the Baratza Maestro is a masterful entry-level grinder. Despite its low sticker price, this grinder is appointed with a heavy duty conical burr grinder, decently sized bean hopper and easy-clean functionality. The PLUS model takes a great thing and makes it even better with a range of grind that is 30% greater than the original Maestro. This increase is on the coarsest settings making it easier to get the perfect grind for drip and French press brewers. The number of grind settings has been increased by over 100% to 40 levels, resulting in a huge range of grinds. Beautifully designed, this grinder won't just help you make better coffee - it'll make your kitchen a more attractive place to be!

Crew Review
Pros
- Super Affordable - With an entry-level price point but features more suited for higher-end grinders, this is a great option for budding coffee enthusiasts looking to start their grinding in earnest
- Auto or Manual - Unlike other grinders, you can choose the automatic grind options, or you can choose to painstakingly on/off the grind process to get the perfect consistency
|
Cons
- Can Be Messy - Some customers have indicated that the excess grinds always find their countertops and the exterior of this unit, no matter how careful they are
- Feed Issues - The Maestro should just feed beans through the burr grinder without help, but that doesn't seem to be a consistent function. You may need to exhibit a bit of patience with this grinder and not expect a professional-level feeding system from a decidedly amateur-level grinder

- Remove and hand wash bean hopper and lid with warm soap and water as needed.

Features & Accessories
Discover how the Baratza Maestro pairs with your espresso machine or coffee maker to conduct a symphony of rich flavor with every ounce of beans it grinds.
Components & Functionality
- Great Wheels: At the heart of the Maestro is the conical (cone-shaped) burr grinder. Swiss made and designed from hardened steel, this design is preferred by espresso machine makers to delivery consistent grinding action with minimal friction and heat build-up.
- Ultimate Quality Control: The Maestro is designed to allow complete control with a flip of a switch. Choose from 18 grind settings by turning the bean hopper to the desired level, and adjust as your preferences (and tastes!) change.
- Automatic (or Manual) for the People: The pre-set grind options and built-in timer are rare functionality for a machine under $300. Or, control the grind more precisely with the manual controls on the front of the unit.
- Easy Clean: The cutting wheel/grinding element easily lifts from the grinder for quick and frequent cleaning.
- Large Bean Hopper: Large for a home grinder, the hopper holds .5 pounds of beans, which equals about 20 shots of espresso or several pots of coffee.
