HistoryMint or also known
as Mentha piperita has early beginnings. The species name Mentha
derives from the Roman mythology involving the God Pluto’s admiration
for young nymph, Minthe. When Pluto’s wife discovered this love, she
turned Minthe into a plant. Unable to reverse the curse, Pluto
sweetened the plant’s scent. Minthe changed to mint, and the herb’s
name was born.
Later,
during the Middle Ages, you could find mint in monastery gardens, where
it was used as a medicinal remedy. Today, mint is one of the most
popular medicinal herbs, drunk plain or blended with tea infusions.
