Pros
- PID Controller - The optional PID controller is pretty much essential for the Alexia, as it provides you with the ultimate stability and control over temperature regulation, an essential element of making great espresso
- Long Live the E-61 - A professional quality brew head, the E-61 is responsible for great shots
- Easily Pull Amazing Espresso - The Alexia will give you deliciously sip-worthy espresso shots perfect for macchiato or just straight up
|
Cons
- Noisy Pump - The vibratory pump is a bit on the loud side
- Frothers Beware - Many folks have noted that the steaming component of the Alexia is not up to snuff, and if you plan on frothing a lot of milk for your drinks, this espresso machine may not be for you
- Temperature Regulation - We highly recommend that you include the PID controller installation option, as managing temperature otherwise is a little on the tricky side and requires you to take the top off to adjust

How it Works
Using the Alexia is fairly simple -- here's an outline of the basic steps:
- Turn the espresso machine on; brewing temperature will likely be reached in about 30 minutes (some folks recommend waiting up to an hour)
- While you're waiting for the machine to warm up, you can grind and tamp your espresso in your portafilter
- When brew temperature is reached, lift the lever to pull some water through the brew group, warming up all internal components prior to pulling your shot
- Insert your portafilter and initiate the shot by lifting the lever
- Once your shot is complete, push the lever back down to end the shot and release pressure -- you'll end up with a dry puck for disposal

Components & Functionality
- Heavy-Duty Construction: The Alexia has a polished stainless steel housing with a removable cup warmer, large (46 oz.) pull-out drip tray and grate.
- Commercial-Grade Boiler: Featuring a single boiler design with .75 liter capacity, the Alexia will heat quickly to brewing and steaming temperatures.
- Brass Portafilters: Chrome-plated brass portafilters are inspired by commercial design and offer improved temperature regulation.
- E-61 Brew Group: Featuring a thermal siphon design that stabilizes the brew group's temperature while inactive, the commercial-class E-61 brew group is excellent in temperature regulation and brews delicious espresso as a result.
- Low Water Cut Off: Saving your espresso machine from boiler burn-out, the Alexia features a precise magnetic sensor that cuts off power to the boiler when the water is low. The pump will still remain powered, however, so that you'll be able to finish that shot you were in the middle of pulling.
- Lever Controlled, 3-Way Bipass: Pulling a shot is easy with the Alexia's simple lever brewing system. The pressure release valve will leave you with an easily-disposable dry puck after you're finished.
- Pressure Gauge: The boiler pressure gauge allows you to easily calibrate your espresso machine.
- 52 Watt Pump: The Ulka vibratory pump features protection from thermal overload.
- 3 Liter Water Reservoir: Minimize frequency in refill with this large capacity water reservoir.
