Bridging the gap between your kitchen and the corner coffee house is Quick Mill's Andreja Premium semi-automatic espresso machine. Considered 'prosumer' because of its high-quality commercial-grade design, its ability to be plumbed in, its E-61 brew head and separate nozzles for steaming and hot water, this espresso machine could be the very last one you'll ever buy.

    Crew Review

    Pros
    • Brewing with an E-61 - This tried-and-true, professional-grade brew group provides the ultimate in temperature control, allowing you to pull delicious espresso
    • Insulated Steam/Hot Water Arms - Hot water or steam is conducted through an inner tube that is insulated from the exterior wand casing, so you won't burn yourself on them after use
    • Commercial-Grade Design - Everything from the stainless steel casing to the upgraded steam and hot water valves lets you know that this espresso machine is built to last

    Cons
    • Vibratory Pump - Some folks have complained that this is a little noisy for their early mornings
    • Poor Water Reservoir Design - While the Andreja features a cup warmer, you have to remove it in order to fill the water reservoir; many people have complained that the pour hole is too small and that it's difficult to refill with water, but this is easily resolved with the direct connect plumb-in kit
    • Annoying Knobs - No, we're not insulting you! Some folks have complained that the knobs for the steam and hot water nozzles are not ergonomically designed and that their slick surface doesn't enable ease of on/off without using a little extra leverage than might seem necessary

    How it Works
Impress your guests with your better-than-the-cafe espresso by following these basic steps:
    1. Turn the espresso machine on; brewing temperature will likely be reached in about 10 minutes
    2. While you're waiting for the machine to warm up, you can grind and tamp your espresso in your portafilter
    3. When brew temperature is reached, lift the lever to pull some water through the brew group, warming up all internal components prior to pulling your shot
    4. Insert your portafilter and initiate the shot by lifting the lever
    5. Once your shot is complete, push the lever back down to end the shot and release pressure -- you'll end up with a dry puck for disposal
    6. If you're making a latte or cappuccino, feel free to steam your milk at any time; the heat exchange boiler facilitates simultaneous brew and steam
    Care
For detailed care instructions, please refer to your machine's user manual. We recommend that you also incorporate the following into your cleaning routine:
    • Descale every 2 - 3 months. We recommend using Dezcal.
    • Clean the brew gasket with a cleaning brush daily
    • Soap out water tank and drip tray every few days
    • Optional: Perform backflush routine and clean the filter basket each week.
    • Keep the stainless steel casing shiny with a microfiber cloth
    Features & Accessories
The Andreja Premium is called 'prosumer' for a reason -- here are some of its high-quality features.

    Components & Functionality
    • Heavy-Duty Housing: Polished stainless steel body features a removable cup warmer, 46 oz. pull-out drip tray and grate.
    • Commercial-Grade Heat Exchange Boiler System: Brew and steam simultaneously with the 1.6 liter insulated copper heat exchange boiler that includes a resettable high-limit breaker. The high-quality vacuum breaker can be put on a timer with no vapor lock, so once this espresso machine is up to temperature, it can brew all day.
    • Two Portafilters: The Andreja Premium includes two complete 58mm Chrome-plated brass portafilters, one single and one double.
    • E-61 Brew Group: Commercially-designed for excellent espresso, the E-61 brew group is a master of temperature regulation and also features a thermal siphon design that stabilizes the group's temperature while inactive.
    • Low Water Cut Off: Save your boiler, keep your shot! If your Andreja Premium is low on water, precise magnetic sensors will signal a shut down on boiler power, so it won't burn out. If you're in the middle of a shot, however, don't worry: Power will continue to remain on for the pump, so you can finish pulling that shot.
    • 3-Way Bi-pass Valve & Lever Control: Your Andreja Premium incorporates a simple lever design for shot initiation and, once you end the shot, pressure will be released via the 3-way valve, leaving you with a dry puck for easy disposal.
    • Dual Pressure Gauges: Easily monitor your espresso machine's performance with the pump and boiler pressure gauges.
    • Ulka 52 Watt Pump: Thermal overload protection keeps this vibratory pump from burning out.
    • High Capacity Water Reservoir: Large reservoir holds up to 3 liters of water.
    • Steam & Hot Water Nozzles: Both the steam wand and the hot water dispenser are insulated so you won't get burned after use. Steam wand comes stock with a 4 hole .9mm steam tip.
    Included Accessories
    • Basket Set: Your Andreja Premium comes with 3 filter baskets -- a single shot, double shot and blank shot for use in backflushing.
    • Optional - Direct Connect Kit: Directly connect your espresso machine to your kitchen's plumbing with this optional addition to the Andreja Premium. We highly recommend it -- can't be beat for ease and functionality!

The Andreja Just Makes Great Espresso March 26, 2009
Reviewer: Brad G. from Bellevue, WA United States
After using a Gagga Espresso 2 cups/day for 16 years our first espresso machine was exhausted. I settled on the Andreja Premium after months of research. Spending well in excess of a $1000 for a espresso machine required some evaluation. My wife was not convinced. She felt it was very extravagant! After a week of getting to "know" the machine, she is a confirmed believer! The Andreja just makes great espresso. It does not required any kind of a ritualistic dance to get great espresso; after letting the machine warm up for 30 minutes you just fill the porta filter, tamp and pull the espresso. It is as simple as that. I looked as all of the website on the Rancillio. It is claimed that you can get good espresso if you go through a long litany of temp surfing. None of that is required with the Andreja. PS. My wife ordered the direct connect kit.

Best Espresso Machine I've Ever Owned March 26, 2009
Reviewer: Jan S. from Tacoma, WA United States
I walked into SCG unsure what kind of machine I wanted or needed, a superautomatic or semi. After spending an hour or more with the staff I ended up with my Quickmill. Not only is it a stunning looking machine, but it is hands down the best espresso machine I've ever owned or used! I spent hours online researching different brands, but I never truly understood what a "puck" was until I got this machine. My other espresso machines never deposited a clean "puck". The staff took their time with me and walked me thru using the machine. They assured me they were a phone call away and they were. When I finally set up all my new equipment I was a bit overwhelmed by the very intimidating looking machine. I picked up the phone and in a few minutes they walked me thru all the procedures again and I was on my way! I've never looked back. I feel like a pro! While it is certainly an investment, this is the BMW of espresso machines and you will have no regrets! It's a must have!

Quickmill Andreja Premium March 21, 2009
Reviewer: Ryan from Friday Harbor,  WA United States
After months of research and countless hours of OK coffee while looking through forums, shops and websites I jumped right in. I bought this with the MACAP M4 stepless doser grinder.
I had little experience with machines prior to this, and with the help of staff at their shop they helped me dial in my grinder and learn some finer points on pulling shots and steaming milk.
It's definitely got a learning curve and took a month or so get really consistent shots and milk. One thing I'd do different would be to get the direct plumbing kit right off. Excellent machine, it pulls great shots! A little sticky with the steam knob if you close it too fast. You can cheat with a 4 hole tip for easier steaming if the 2 hole is too much power for you. My only other gripe is that now except for: Lighthouse, Stumptown, Satellite and Sleeping Monk shops, getting coffee out just doesn't compare anymore!

    Extremely Satisfied October 23, 2008
Reviewer: Phillip S. from Rochester, NY United States
Machine works great. Excellent build/ reliability for the past couple of months. Only thing is that occasionally there is a rattle or clicking sound when extracting a shot.

    I wanted convenience, but... February 18, 2008
Reviewer: John & Coleen from Seattle, WA United States
We visited Seattle Coffee Gear's showroom to look at their superautomatic coffee machines. We looked at the Jura Z6 and Saeco Primea Ring machines. We brewed the same Lavazza coffee through each and Gail also recommended we pull a shot through the Andreja for comparison. Wow what a difference...we were sold. We pulled several more shots and were convinced that this machine had all the convenience we needed. We also purchased a doser MACAP grinder to go with it.

We have just set this up and are planning to install the pumbing kit to complete our coffee bar.

I'm so glad we were able to see this machine in person before we ordered one of the other machines. I would highly recommend this machine to anyone looking at superautomatic machines.
