Description   The Rancilio Rocky, designed specifically for espresso, enjoys the reputation of being one of the toughest, most durable grinders on the market. Based on the engineering and innovations developed from Rancilios commercial grinders, the Rocky has set the bar for other grinders competing in the home espresso market.   The Rocky is one of the markets best built home and light commercial coffee grinders for the money. With a body weight of 18 pounds (with the motor making up 11.5 of those pounds), its brushed stainless steel housing, and heavy-duty plastic accessory components, there is no doubt that the Rocky is one of the toughest grinders in its class.  Commercial Quality Grinding Burrs   There is no mistaking the 50mm grinding wheels for anything but professional quality. Made of hardened, tempered steel and engineered in a precision cutting tooth design, the Rocky has both perfected a uniform, consistent grind as well as ensured long wear. Handy Dosing Lever   Since the Rocky was developed to be an espresso coffee grinder, it has a built-in coffee grounds doser all set up to dispense approximately 7 grams of ground coffee with every pull on the doser handle. The Rocky can be used directly for any espresso machine with a common sized portafilter.    Made of tough, impact resistant, molded plastic and metal, the Rocky coffee dosing hopper is designed to clearly show the level of ground coffee available for use. You also can see the sturdy, plastic auger fins that direct the ground coffee into the dispensing chute. The dosing lever is located on the side of the hopper and below it is an open dock that holds the portafilter steady while it is being filled.  Coffee Bean Hopper   The Rocky has a modest sized bean hopper to allow it to fit under most kitchen cabinets. This 10-oz hopper is made of light blue tented, molded plastic.     55 Different Grind Settings   Finding the grind setting you want is easy with the grinding dial. The ultra-fine threading allows you to go beyond the last setting up to 55 different grinds and all the places in between. With that amount of versatility, you can happily grind for espresso with precision, and you can also grind for drip, Turkish or French press coffee brewing.   Quiet, Powerful and Safe   The motor on the Rocky was developed for the commercial line where power and noise reduction was a must. No other motor can compete with the Rancilio whisper soft operation and torque for grinding coffee beans. The motor is directly connected to the cutting wheels for direct drive power. In fact, most of the weight in the Rocky is from the motor itself, which weighs in at a hefty 11.5 pounds! Expect years of trouble free use with the Rocky in your home.   As an extra pre-caution, the Rocky features a great safety device. It delivers a perfect grind of espresso every time. It does take some practice to see what "number" best suits your taste preference. We like #11... just one click past the #10 on the round dial. It delivers a nicely ground espresso bean just ground enough for a bold, smooth espresso taste. Muy perfecto! We have owned our Rancilio Grinder and Espresso machine for a few years now and both are running like new delivering a delicious cup of espresso w/ frothed creamy milk every morning! Perfection! May 20, 2009 Reviewer: William French from Kenmore, WA United States   I got tired of trying to make my old blade grinder do something it was never designed to do: grind perfect espresso. Within minutes of unpacking my new Rocky, I was rewarded with a thick delicious 28-second shot topped with an impressive layer of wonderfully mottled crema. Extremely Satisfied October 23, 2008 Reviewer: Joannie B. from Palisade, CO United States   A perfect mate to the Miss Silvia. Exact grind settings that never seem to vary. Number 4 setting is perfect for Lavazza coffees that I have used. I like the convenience and speed of the doser. The only negative of the doser is having to empty the dosing hopper after making grind adjustments. Once you have found the right setting it's quick and efficient.
