We upgraded because we remodeled the kitchen and wanted to upgrade our machine too. The Vspresso has several improvements over our old Vienna Deluxe. It tamps three times, it has separate steam pumps for coffee and the steaming wand, and it has a display menu that makes maintenance easier: Notification occurs when the dregs basket is full; no guessing. Notification occurs when the water level is low (not gone). It has an espresso cup warmer on top. It shuts down after a few hours to save electricity, but heats up quickly when I get home from work. There is space for a water filter inside the water tank, to cut down on lime scale. I enjoy a cup of espresso or cappuccino 2-3 times a day. Owning my own machine makes it convenient and cost effective. Besides, my family and guests love to have an elegant cup of coffee when visiting or after a meal. The panarello makes frothing easy and if some one wants de-caf. there is a bypass doser.
