Quick Overview
Its name may say "professional," but home users will find plenty to love about the Ascaso Steel UNO Professional Espresso Machine. The PID control enables the user to change the temperature of the coffee boiler to achieve a superior and more consistent espresso extraction. With a three-way solenoid valve that helps relieve any pressure on the filter basket once you finish your shot, you'll notice a reduction of moisture in the puck after the extraction. Also with an adaptor it's compatible with the E.S.E single-dose pod system to make brewing and cleaning a cinch.
Features & Functionality of the Ascaso Steel UNO Professional

- Safety: A steam pipe protector helps to protect you from burns when touching the steam wand.
- Professional Size: Enjoy professional results with the 58mm chrome-plated brass portafilter.
- Panarello Wand: A frothing aid on the swivel steam pipe helps to create good froth for cappuccinos.

Great machine with PID
Review by Matt -
Quality Value Price I owned a Francis Francis machine for 6 years that accepted grounds, but was mainly built fo use with pods. Upgrading to this machine at the sale price was a great upgrade. I did tons of research on home machines based on price, water tank capacity, boiler capacity and material, electricity output, additional perks (PID, e61) , and I don't think I could have made a better decision for what I needed, which was 2 espressos in the morning, and sometimes 2 in the afternoon on weekends. I didn't need a 1.5 liter boiler machine that took up a lot of counter space. I also wanted to try something different than just going with Silvia.
Pros:
Easy To Use, Easy To Clean, Great Taste
Cons:
Drip tray rattles a bit, Newer model at Ascaso(Posted on 3/7/12)

Upgraded from a Dream
Review by JD -
Quality Value Price I purchased this as an upgrade from the original Ascaso Dream, and it's worlds better. Big reservoir, big drip tray, big 58mm portafilter, nice big flat cup tray, big boiler, and it seems to have more brewing power over the Dream. With the PID it keeps the temp at proper brew temp at all times, so no more guessing what temp it is. I've brewed better espresso with the Uno Pro than I ever did with the Dream. If you're looking for a single boiler machine, this one is top notch.
Pros:
Easy To Use, Commercial Grade, Great Taste, Easy To Clean, Quick Brewing, Large Water Container
Cons:

Takes a little practice, but worth it!
Review by billsalt -
Quality Value Price I love the addition of the PID and temperature readout! It allows consistency that I never could get before. The 4 port foamer takes getting used to; it goes so much faster than I'm used to that It took me some time to figure out, but now I get great results.
You do need to make sure your grinder is up to snuff; the Rancillo Rocky works great for us.
I'm finally producing an espresso of the taste/quality of my favorite baristas and shops. Now if I could only master the foam art...
Pros:
Great Taste, Very fast foamer, Temperature control, Temperature readout, Large Water Container
Cons:
Very fast foamer(Posted on 3/20/10)
