Dan S: Hi Rob, I've been using the bonavita gooseneck for about six months now and am quite impressed by its quality. It won't rust. It stands up to a lot of heat from my gas burner stovetop. Although the hario kettle is what my local coffee shop uses, I liked the styling of the bonavita more than the hario and have not second guessed my decision to go with the bonavita. Cheers. Jonathan B: Mine is months old and hasn't shown any sign of rust, after almost daily use over a gas stove. I know that some "stainless" steel just means that it will "stain less", but this kettle is holding up great. I run a cafe and point my customers to this kettle all the time. Oct 16, 2013

Thomas M: Hi Rob,

Tom of Greenstreet Coffee Roasters in Philadelphia, PA here. I have had a few of these kettles (longest one approx. 2 years) and rust has not occurred. Can't say you can't be sure but I have not seen rust.

Extract well,

Tom

Dan G: I have had mine since December is 2012 and have used it almost everyday. I do not have any rust yet. I hae never tested it with a magnet, and don't know the stainless steel content, but it seems pretty stable thus far. Oct 16, 2013

Will A: I have been using mine daily since December and it has not yet shown any real wear, specifically, no rust. I wipe it clean after ever use and give it a really good cleaning once a week. Oct 16, 2013

Rachel M: As with most of the other folks here, i have not seen rust at all. Doesn't meant it won't happen; but if you care for it well, i'm sure it'll give you good longevity as mine has. Oct 16, 2013

Stephen T: It is stainless steel, so rust should not be an issue.
Had it 5 months with no problems, tho' I don't let water stand in it. No signs of rust around the seams.

Dobin Y: It will, if you heat it until no more water is left. I did that and the knob melted, and the inside rusted very quickly. Oct 16, 2013

A shopper asked: Can it be used on a gas stove? Aug 17, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Ken M: I bought one of these from SCG in february 2014. The part number says this is stainless steel and will work with and induction stove top. I have just ordered an induction range and the salesman and all I have read on line said that for any cookware to work on an induction cook top that it has to be magnetic and to carry a magnet with you. I tried the magnet on this kettle and it is not magnetic? So if not magnetic how can it work on and induction stove top? Is mine faulty? Jul 1, 2014
Reply to Ken Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Teri KStaff: I have heard that a magnet test will work for induction stovetops as well, however my magnet won't stick to this Bonavita Gooseneck Kettle either. I don't have an induction stove to test the kettle on, however it does say that it will work for induction tops. Give it a try- it should work just fine for you! Jul 3, 2014
Teri KStaff: Yes, you can use this Bonavita Kettle on a gas stove. It is safe for induction and stovetop use. Aug 19, 2013

At first I was worried this would be too small but this kettle worked out perfectly. Our usual brew for two is 800 grams of water so my concern about whether we should have gotten the larger model was unfounded. The control I have now with my pour is worth the price of the kettle alone. It looks sharp on our stove, (which is brushed stainless steel and black) . I cannot address how this will stand up to everyday use as I have only had it for a month now. I was a little surprised at how thin the metal was on the sides and bottom but if this kettle wears well it is an amazing buy for the price. Would highly recommend this to anyone and SCG was very helpful with any questions I had. An awesome product and a company that is a pleasure to do business with.

Great Kettle

I've used this gooseneck kettle for two weeks worth of pour overs and it's worked very well. Pros: Price(least expensive gooseneck kettle I've found), holding up well to daily use, pour control is great, great size if you're only making a few cups at a time. Cons: Takes longer to stovetop heat water than to use an electric kettle (I just heat water in an electric kettle and pour it into the Bonavita). Overall it's a great buy, I highly recommend it.

Great gooseneck kettle

A great little SS kettle for the price. Pros: construction, design & good looks, compact size, ergonomics for pour. Cons: handle gets hot if pot is centered on flame (offset it); small size means plenty of refills (also in the pro section b/c it's a great looking size for a compact kitchen). Overall would definitely recommend - solid product, durable construction - wouldn't miss my morning pour w/o it!
