Seattle Coffee Gear Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Nina B: Larger capacity than most (1800 vs. 1500). Different temperatures. Nice look. Apr 25, 2012
A shopper asked: Does this heat water quickly? Apr 20, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
James B: Yes it does. But I should tell you that all electric kettles heat water faster than a pan on gas stove. I can not explain why but they do. It is a fact of life and I have tested it. Chef's choice I had before the breville was even faster I believe and cheaper as I remember. - Apr 24, 2012

Nina B: I timed mine this morning. It took 8.5 minutes to boil the max amount of water (1800) at the highest Black Tea temperature. Is that quick? Apr 25, 2012

A shopper asked: does anyone know if this is BPA free. does boiled water come in contact with the plastic window? Apr 2, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Teri KStaff: Unfortunately the water does come into contact with the window in the Breville Variable temperature kettle, and Breville does list that the window is NOT BPA free. I have included a little more information from their site below:

Q: Does the window in the Variable Temperature Kettle contain BPA?
I have seen an answer that claims all the plastics Breville uses are BPA free. It was not addressing the variable temperature kettle with the polycarbonate windows. Does the window in the variable temperature kettle contain BPA?

A: Yes, the polycarbonate window contains BPA.
The window in the Variable Temperature Kettle is made of polycarbonate and does contain BPA. Please contact http://brevilleusasupport.com for further assistance.

best kettle ever

Best kettle I've ever used. Water tastes better (a couple friends own Breville kettles, so I already knew that), and my green tea tastes better with the lower temperature available on this model. We love our Breville toaster oven, so I figured this model might be worth the extra for the features, and it totally is. Very easy to use, convenient.
(Our old kettle croaked, so we were boiling water in pots for a few months. Too slow, and sometimes forgot. So there's the price of a new saucepan. So over that.)
I love the pull ring on the Breville power cords, great to keep them in good condition with frequent unplugging.
Enjoyed placing the order by phone, BTW. Glad you employ live people.

We drinks different beverages - coffee, tea, coco, french press - so this is a great product for us. The only thing we don't like is the high pitched noise the kettle makes when you start it and first put place the pot after filling it. This drives our dog crazy.

Pros:
Clear Boiling Indicator, Comfortable Grip, Tight Lid

Cons:
High pitched noise

I saw this at a tea tasting and thought I might like the features. In the past I have had to buy a new electric tea kettle every year as they wear out(one was even a respected brand name). But I have had this one almost 2 years now and it works like new and looks like new. I use it every day and so does my husband. I bought my first one for my office and I liked it so much I bought another one for home. I am a tea drinker myself, but the guy in the office next to me asks to use it for his French Press. I will never go back to the old type of electric kettle again.

Pros:
Clear Boiling Indicator, Comfortable Grip, Tight Lid, Temperature Selection, Boils Quickly

Cons:

The grind settings are not accurate. In order to get a true espresso grind the machine needs to be adjusted all the way over to the "Turkish" setting.
Once there, the grind is consistent and the unit works fine.

Pros:
Easy To Use

Excellent cup of coffee!

It took me about a year to decide which espresso maker I want to buy. I did not want to settle for a mediocre tasting coffee and I didn't want to pay a crazy amount of money for it. This is exactly what I needed. I use Lavazza espresso ground coffee that is excellent. The machine is a little noisy but the quality of the coffee is excellent. This is the price that you have to pay when you buy an inexpensive machine but I don't care. It does not take long to make the coffee, so it is a little noisy but it only takes a minute and then you have a great cup of coffee. I use a double shot of espresso to make a good cup of cappucino because I like the coffee to be strong so I need to make one cup at a time. I add the sweetener to the milk before frothing and this way I don't have to worry about it going through the foam and I do the frothing in the cup that I use to serve the coffee. The free thermometer that came with it is very helpful. Keep a wet rag next to the machine to clean the frothing nozzle and the thermometer right away before the milk dries up. disposing the used ground coffee can be messy so I just rinse it in the sink. The only reason that I don't give it 5 stars is that I cannot say that it is a perfect machine but it is very close.

Pros:
Great Taste, Large Water Container, Quick Brewing, Easy To Clean, Easy To Use

Cons:
