How the Capresso Cafe Espresso Machine Works

  • Dual Frother:This device is easy use and performs very well. There are two parts of the frother. There is a Frothing Sleeve for cappuccinos and when the Frothing Sleeve is removed, it reveals the Steam Tube for lattes.
  • Frothing: Frothing Sleeve is in place over the steam tube. Hot steam and air are injected into the milk. The air will swirl inside the milk creating silky dense froth on top of the milk, ideal for a cappuccino.
  • Steaming only: Frothing Sleeve is removed to reveal the Steam Tube. Only hot steam will be injected into the milk. This is ideal for a latte.
  • Important: To work properly, the Frothing Sleeve and Steam Tube need to be free of any milk deposits from earlier use.

DeAngelo C asked: What size tamper do I need for this? Also, how could I make the portafilter not pressurized? I saw Gail do it in the video for this. Feb 4, 2014

Rich L: I haven't watched the video you reference, so I don't know what this procedure is, nor why you would want to. You must be referring to releasing the pressure prior to removal. I simply let it set while I froth my milk. Once this is done, I remove the portafilter with no problem. The machine automatically depressurizes after each step, when the selector switch is returned to the off position. As to the tamper, the required size of tamper is provided with the machine so there is no need to buy one separately. Feb 5, 2014

jessica c asked: I'm looking into getting this machine I've never used an espresso machine at home so I'm wondering what else I need to buy with it so I have everything I need in one order? Sep 24, 2013

Teri KStaff: This Capresso Cafe Espresso Machine would also potentially require a frothing pitcher, some shot glasses, and some espresso ground coffee. I'd also recommend getting some descaler, either Dezcal or the Capresso branded descaler, found at the link below. Other than that, you're pretty set, since a machine with a pressurized portafilter like this usually doesn't need a tamping mat and knock box.
