Pros
  • Compact - Having a small kitchen shouldn't stop you from making your favorite espresso drinks in the comfort of your own home. This machine may be small, but it offers all you'll need to make that perfect drink.
  • No Need for Exact Grind - The Capresso EC100 takes the guess work out of finding the precise grind.
Cons
  • Weak Frother - We didn't love the frother on this Capresso machine. We found it to be a bit weak in its frothing capabilities.
  • Loud - There was a loud humming while using the steamer.
  • Steam wand Clearance - This machine lacks in its available steam wand clearance. You'll need to use a smaller frothing pitcher.

sean f: It's tough to say but usually machines say, under $300 are going to have a fairly small and weak boiler unit. How much coffee are you looking to make? I've used similar machines in the price range for a household of two and felt like they were adequate. Mar 6, 2013

Joli D: It does it well, but is not a commercial grade or higher end machine with larger boiler. Pazienza (be patient). Joli D Mar 10, 2013

Thomas asked: Does anyone know how to keep the Capresso EC100 from making so much foam when it makes coffee? I usually get 3 parts foam to 1 part coffee. Oct 2, 2013

Kay R: I don't have an issue so I will share with you my routine, which may help you. I use Trader Joe's Shady Tree espresso ground coffee (which is almost a Turkish grind) and "pre-infuse" the grounds manually for 2 seconds before I make the espresso. The machine takes a second to flush itself and then reheat. after the pre infusing. I then make the actual espresso. I also use a large Cappuccino cup which I have preheated. There is some foam (which I happen to like) but only a thin layer. Oct 3, 2013

Kaylie KStaff: The Delonghi EC100 is rated at 15 bars of pressure, as are most machines. This rating is enough to produce espresso with some crema, provided your beans are fresh and ground fine. Aug 9, 2012

I got this espresso machine on sale and have been using it for a month. If you preheat the chamber by running water through it and take care in packing the coffee in the filter it makes a good espresso with a nice amount of crema.

First espresso maker came with broken hose for water tank, we returned under warranty and they gave us another new unit with no charge. This new espresso came perfect. Makes nice and warm espresso shots and the froths are not the best but pretty decent.

I was looking for a cheap espresso machine to use with pods and I only use it once or twice a day. This one seemed like a good fit. I measured my pods in the portafilter and they fit just fine. The machine worked great for the first 2 days but then began to lose pressure. I could see the steam bypass to the drip tray. Not sure exactly what the problem is, but this is clearly not a machine meant to last.

Do not buy. Can't push water through fine grind and does not seem to extract coffee as our other machines do so well.

This machine, while easy to use, does not produce a HOT espresso. It froths well and has adequate pressure for nice crema, BUT not hot. I returned under warranty for repair and it came back. Their solution - a new porta filter. Huh? Still, not a hot enough espresso or capuccino - despite following all the steps, preheating of porta filter and cup, froth first, espresso last.

I prepare a latte every morning and also have family and friends who occasionally come and enjoy a latte with me or perhaps some other espresso drink. I like the water tank it is large and does not have to refilled very often, it pours a beautiful drink, it is a little messy on clean up but that is a minor thing.

Pros:
Large Water Container, Great Taste, Easy To Use

Cons:
Messy
