This is my second Capresso coffee maker. The first one was amazing, and lasted for several years. I was so pleased that I bought the same model. Wow...BIG disappointment. Coffee never gets to the proper temperature, tastes over processed, and the thermal carafe is worthless. Big waste of money. Do not buy this machine!

Terrible coffe maker!

Review by

I have been an avid Capresso fan for years. I have bought their coffee makers and grinders since they initiated the brand, but alas the quality and value is no more. The MT600 plus made in China (formerly made in Portugal) is an utter disappointment. The coffee does not brew at the right temperature. The thermal carafe does not hold the heat (yes, I do prep it properly prior to brewing). The design is cheap. You have to move the pot to correctly see the water level unlike my prior model purchased. The programming element malfunctions. It is a lemon compared to the prior models. To top it off, the price is steep. My wife and I decided to scrap our recent purchase, bust the budget, and take the plunge and buy a Technivorm! What a shame and disappointment!

Worst coffee maker I have ever tried

Review by

Easily the worst coffee maker I have ever tried. So many things are wrong, where to begin?

Your first cup is the only cup that is remotely hot. The thermal carafe might as well be glass, it insulates very poorly.

There is no way this pot brews even close to 200F. You can pour a cup and start downing it pretty much directly after the coffee has brewed.

The coffee tastes bad. No matter what beans you use, it tastes the same. No depth, no flavor. People who like the taste of the coffee that this machine brews should probably be drinking instant coffee, not much difference.

I could go on, but you get the point.

Say What?

Review by

I am with the other reveiwer and can't for the life of me undertstand anyone not loving this coffee pot. It makes wonderful coffee and keeps it warm well enough for me at least. I love the design, feel, and filter this maker provides. I love it and its the only pot I will own unless my wife springs for a Technivorm MoccaMaster.

Nice pot but doesn't stay warm

Review by

Very nice coffee maker....but nothing really special. The thermos will not keep the coffee very warm. Have to head to the microwave after 30 minutes or more.

Weak coffee

Review by

This coffee maker makes terrible coffee. (I owned a coffee house for 5 years and I know coffee).

I have tried 5 different beans with various roasts, different grinds, various amounts of water, and the 2 settings for the size of the brew.

The manufacturer touts a "fast brew time" when the only thing fast is that the water pours out into the middle of the grounds leaving a deep crater in wet grounds. The water is not in contact with the grounds long enough to develop any body or flavor. The water should spray out over the grounds for more even brewing.

The temperature of the finished brew never reached over 172--definitely not the 185--200 degree brewing temp claimed. The thermal carafe let the coffee temp drop to 136 in 4 hours when it had only been opened twice to pour a cup.

The coffee is weak and watery no matter how much water or coffee is used, no matter what filter is used, no matter how coarse or fine the grind is. We tried the gold tone filter as well as a paper filter. The coffeemaker is just plain terrible.
