This unique way to extract shots with the 58mm Bottomless Portafilter for Rocket Giotto and Rocket Cellini models offers a great view into the process as rich hues of brown come waterfalling out from underneath your brewhead unit.
How the 58mm Bottomless Portafilter Works
- Lightly fill the portafilter basket to the top
- Use your finger to gently even out the grounds
- Lightly press the tamper into the grounds and find a good center point
- Evenly apply approximately 30 lbs of pressure to the grounds
- Tap the side of the portafilter to reveal loose grounds
- Lightly tamp these loose grounds into place
- Sit back and enjoy one of the coolest looking effects in espresso extraction

Price Value Quality I use the bottomless daily (unless I am pulling the shot into two cups, then I use the double spouted). Great diagnostic tool for adjusting grind or when switching coffee. It also makes it easier to identify when to stop a shot.
This portafilter also allows you to experiment with other filter manufacturers that are deeper than the stock double.(Posted on 4/12/13)

Price Value Quality I got this as part of the package for purchasing a Rocket espresso machine. It is beautiful and matches the single and double portafilters included with the machine. I can believe this item is worth about $70. Commercial quality.

Quality Value Price Started using this portafilter to improve my shot pulls. A little messy when first dialing in a grinder (espresso can shoot everywhere if the grind is too coarse), but once the grind is close to where it should be this item works well to tell you what adjustments need to made.
The feedback I received from this portafilter improved my pulls more than anything else to date.
