Seattle Coffee Gear Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Jack S: Great tasting coffee not to oily for super automatic. Apr 6, 2012
Caroroll R: The Lavazza super crema beans are a drier bean than most and that is an advantage with a home fully automatic espresso machine. If I really had to I probably could manage to clean the grinders but I hope I never have to. So far I have worn out a couple espresso machines and have never had a grinder problem with these beans. AND, I really like the espressos I make with these beans. Apr 6, 2012

A shopper asked: at 2.5 lbs how could the beans not go stale? Feb 5, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kaylie KStaff: Lavazza gives all of their beans a preservative nitrogen flush that keeps them fresh. In addition, there are a variety of products that can prolong the life of the beans.

I would recommend either an Airscape canister (http://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/Airscape-Coffee-Bean-Canister-p/scg30511.htm) or Coffee Bean Vac (http://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/Coffee-Bean-Vac-p/scg10005-3.htm). If you purchase the Bean Vac, please keep in mind that its capacity is just over 1 pound.

Candice H: We have found the best way to handle our lavazza Beans is as follows; 1) open the bag and grind the amount of beans that we will be using for the next couple of days. 2) the rest of the whole coffee beans we place in a sealed air tight container and theY do not go stale. This is an excellent product and I would highly reccomend it.

Arlene N: After opening the bag, I put what I need into the grinder and keep the rest in the origional bag folded and clipped. I also put that into a large ziplock bag and store it in a dry, dark cuboard and don't seem to have any problem keeping it from going stale..
Hope thet helps :-)

Ernest H: I use 2.5 lbs. in about two weeks. I usually order a minimum of two bags at a time. When I open a bag, I store the beans in a jar with a sealed top and keep it in the cupboard. I have never had any beans of the various Lavazza espressos I use go stale. Feb 8, 2012

John S: The bags are vacuum sealed. The bags, once opened can be stored in the freezer....that's what I do and find that the beans taste as good as when the bag is first opened. Feb 7, 2012

Tim K asked: Hi, I am debating in getting either:

- Lavazza Grand Espresso - Whole Bean
o
- Lavazza Super Crema Espresso - Whole Bean

I like my coffee - very Dark / bonded and crema, please advice which one is the best for my taste (or which one is strongest and without oily).

Beside the taste, would it harm if I mix the 1 pound of StarBuck Dark roasted (that remaining) with 2 lb of Lavazza (that I gonna buy)?

Thank.

Teri KStaff: If you prefer a darker roast, I would suggest the Lavazza Grand Espresso. It is a medium roast and offers a bold, dark taste without the oils. I would stay away from the dark Starbucks beans as best you can just to avoid the risk of clogging your grinder. If your machine has a bypass doser, I would suggest grinding the left over Starbucks and brewing with the bypass doser. Apr 9, 2014

Eric N asked: I have tried several of the Lavazza line and know it's recommended for super autos like Jura C5. What other in Lavazza or other lines are a safe bet and not too oily to use in the Jura C5? Dec 11, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Teri KStaff: You can actually safely use any of the Lavazza beans we offer in the superautos like the Jura C5, as they all have a nice matte finish that is not oily. For a bold flavor, I'd recommend the Lavazza Crema e Aroma, and for something a bit more mild, check out the Lavazza Gran Aroma Bar. Dec 12, 2013

Loren G asked: How long can Lavazza beans be kept in original packaging without losing it's aroma or taste? Feb 12, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Teri KStaff: As long as the bag is sealed, this Lavazza Super Crema has a very long shelf life- sometimes a year in the future. Once opened though, it is best to store the beans in a well sealed canister out of light exposure for best flavor. Feb 13, 2014

Sam V asked: Are these beans oily? Jan 21, 2014

Hiram C asked: When you guys are expecting to have the Lavazza Super Crema (whole bean) back in stock? Jan 16, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Teri KStaff: Unfortunately Super Crema is our most popular and we frequently sell out, so we're looking for a new supplier. I'd suggest trying the new blends from Lavazza we're offering in those large bags- like the Lavazza Gran Crema or Crema e Aroma. Jan 21, 2013

Hiram C: Hi Teri,
I entered an order for two bags of Crema e Aroma... let's see how this one fairs against Super Crema.

Thanks,

Super Crema Espresso lives up to it's name with lots of velvety crema and a full body espresso that is great as an espresso coffee to a cappuccino to an Americano. All equally rich, smooth and completely satisfying.

I do not find this coffee to be oily in any way compared to SCG's other coffees.

I tried a different Lavazza roast that my sister and her family are obsessed with and it was really good! I decided to look through Lavazza on my own and found this roast. It sounded good for what I was looking for, whole beans for my Breville espresso machine at home. I gave it four stars out of five only because it didn't surpass my favorite espresso beans that we use at the coffee stand I work at.
I am from WA state and I like to think I'm a coffee expert, coffee has always been a big thing in my family and it's a hobby of mine to try new coffee shops! My personal favorite is an iced coconut mocha, try it sometime! :)

I (unfortunately) bought 3 2lb. bags on these reviews alone, without a test. To be fair, I've only opened one of the bags so perhaps I got a bad one but I found the beans to be both stale and over-roasted/burned: a terrible combination. I must be missing something.

I've tried this in the preground and this is by far the best.
I always have a consistand cup of espresso, always.
I've used this in the preground and at times it's bitter, never consistant. I love flavor, not strong espresso and this delivers!
Love it!

This may be anathema to purists, but I wanted to test its super-hyped smoothness and ground it coarse & brewed it in my French press. It was the smoothest, most satisfying cup of coffee I've ever had. I kept making loud exclamations not usually associated with drinking coffee. If you'll excuse me, I need to go smoke a cigarette...

There isn't much that hasn't already been said in previous reviews. We've tried almost all of the Lavazza coffee blends. So far, this is our favorite.
My nose and palate aren't sophisticated enough to get hints of this and notes of that. All I know is that it tastes like REALLY GREAT COFFEE.
Every time.
And I don't mind admitting that I like a little steamed foamy milk on top. Yummmm.

We found Lavazza Super Crema at Cafe Rosa Mystica in San Luis, CO. At first we thought the latte was awesome because of the skill of the barista - but she, the owner, said "No, it's the coffee." So we bought our first bag there and then found it online. We don't drink anything else, unless we forget to order in time.

Pros:
Great Taste, Smooth

I'm somewhat new to espresso and wanted to find something better than the wholesale store coffee. After buying my first real espresso machine from SCG (Saeco Talea Giro Plus V2) I sought a better coffee. I believe I've found it in Lavazza's Super Crema. The earthy flavor of this coffee sits very well with my family. I initially described it as smelling like peanut butter (peanuts grow in the ground, so earthy fits). The aroma is pleasant to me. I'm now trying out another brand of espresso, with a backup bag of Lavazza in the cupboard ready when I need it and I'm not impressed with this new brand. Did not buy from SCG, but had high ratings.

This is for shots standing alone.Very smooth , so smooth that adding cream dilutes favour. I am weaning down to very little cream on this one due to its smooth and suttle notes to start with. So far I am totally impressed with the Gold Lavazza. I believe my next cup will be best since each new coffee of origin has a breakin time.

These beans are FAB. For shots or milk drinks, the flavor is sooo good and sooo consistent. The roast is a perfect medium and the extraction packs a nice wallop that will keep you alive for a few hours. I set the rocky at about 5 and get CREMA that would float a coal barge!

These beans are nice for a smooth Espresso. They do not work well in any Espresso drinks. The brewed Espresso, although very smooth, will go under in flavored drink. You need a bean with more kick for that. I might get this again, simply for the shot, but will try another Lavazza bean before I decide on that.

Pros:
Smooth straight Espresso, Nice crema

Weak for Espresso drinks

This is my everyday bean and it lives up to it's name. The crema is wonderful every time I draw a shot. My Rancilio Rocky grinder never has any oil residue or gunk build up. The taste is what I would call mild, not burnt or over roasted. It has the regular amount of espresso jolt to it though. I have only tried a few other blends, but I keep coming back to this one! I also like the DEK for a decaff coffee. Lavaza is a good all around bean choice. Life is too short to drink bad coffee!
