It's as fetching as it is functional! Meet the splendidly silver ESAM 6620 from DeLonghi, a super-automatic espresso machine with enough high-tech, programmable capabilities to deliver impeccable espresso with ease. The Gran Dama's built-in bypass doser, professional grade burr grinder, and patented one-touch milk frothing system make this machine a dream to operate and even easier to maintain. Latte macchiatos, lattes and cappuccinos are all brewed at the touch of a button, and each beverage is customizable according to your preference for coffee strength, milk and coffee volume. Impressive stainless steel construction and bright LCD screen for efficient drink programming are just as its name suggests: Grand!

Features & Functionality of the DeLonghi Gran Dama 6620

  • Programmable: Through the LCD display, users can access the detailed programming menu, set coffee and milk volume, adjust temperature, access cleaning cycles and much more. The display leads you through every operation, including brewing, cleaning and programming, and is easily navigable and brightly lit.
  • One-Touch Milk System: The 25 oz. milk container froths or steams milk directly into your cup. Simply select the type of foam desired on the milk carafe lid and start brewing. Press the "clean" button on the milk container after use, and the machine automatically flushes the milk system with hot water. Dishwasher safe, the milk container can also be stored in the refrigerator between drinks.
  • Conical Burr Grinder: Inside the 8 oz. bean hopper you can select one of 13 grind settings to dial in the perfect extraction.
  • Bypass Doser: Need it stronger? Time to dial it back to decaf? A bypass doser allows you to use pre-ground coffee, making it easy to shift from one bean to another.
  • Auto-On and Off: Set your machine to automatically turn-on in the morning for faster more convenient coffee!
  • Warm It Up: Did you know you lose as much as 15 degrees from your drink when you use a cold cup? Take the edge off of your shot glasses or cups with the cup warming surface.

Included Accessories with the DeLonghi Gran Dama 6620

  • Water Hardness Kit: Test the quality of your water and use that info to set your machine to adjust for any impurities
  • Measuring Scoop
  • User Manual
  • Pros
    • Get Steamy - Push-button simplicity and one-touch cleaning makes frothing milk a snap.
    • Make it a Venti - The upgraded drip tray flips up to accommodate taller latte glasses.
    • Cut the Waste - This machine's most unique feature is that it only heats the milk for the drink you're brewing. This means you can easily put the remaining milk (in the container) back into the refrigerator.
    • No Manual Steaming - You can use the automatic frothing container, but there is no standard steam wand with this machine.
    • Oil-Free Beans - Like most super-automatics, the grinder is not oily-bean friendly. Try a medium espresso roast for optimal results.
    • Noisy Grinder - Take your conversation up a decibel level when this grinder is in operation.
How Does it Compare? The Gran Dama series features the best of DeLonghi's espresso functionality, including patented one-touch milk frothing and a bevy of programmable controls.
Tips and Tricks Run a cleaning cycle before milk frothing for even hotter milk!

Kaylie KStaff: It is primarily an interface difference between the DeLonghi Gran Dama 6600 and the Gran Dama 6700; they perform fairly similarly. We started carrying both of them around the same time, so I am unsure which is newer. Mar 8, 2012

Mary B asked: Could someone elaborate on the interface differences between the 6600 & 6700? I presume it is user interface - programming, functionality, lack of features, some major difference. Thanks! Jul 22, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Teri KStaff: The Delonghi Gran Dama 6700 is the newer version of the Gran Dama machines, and so it has had some improvements made overall, in features like grinder settings, display readout, machine settings, and programmability. Otherwise, the two machines will function and brew the same for you! Aug 16, 2012

A shopper asked: i have soft water. will i really have to descale this everytime it prompts me to? Feb 12, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kaylie KStaff: You will set the water hardness level in the machine and then it prompts you based on cup count. If you set it at the softest possible setting, it will still prompt you semi-regularly and you will need to descale when it does so. Feb 15, 2012

    Size of double shot

    Review by

This is my second Gran Dama and it's quieter than the first one, but it does have a problem I haven't been able to resolve. This machine makes a double shot with too much water. It overfills the cup, whereas the previous Gran Dama (as well as my other brands) made the proper amount.

Can someone tell me how to adjust the amount of water it uses per cup?

Hard to evaluate as straight out of box it won't draw water from tank

    Review by

I purchased a Grand Dama 6620 and was sorely disappointed when right out of box it failed to draw water from tank. I have tried numerous times and methods to dislodge airlock(likely problem) but to no avail. Hasn't made a single cup of coffee and Delonghi wants me to send to service for repair. A little disgruntled that a $3000 dollar machine is now going to cost me shipping charges and who knows when I might see it again!

Great coffee, not a durable product

    Review by

This is an inexpensive machine that makes a superior cup of coffee. I have 2 and use them multiple times every day. It is so easy to use and makes such a good product that I have chosen to put up with its non durability. The plastic tops do crack and break, and not from user error. Both of mine cracked while brewing. I continue to use them with cracked and broken tops. Mine are older versions. The filters break and new parts are hard to come by as the new filters are a different size and shape. I just make do.

Easy To Clean, Brews Quickly, Easy To Use, Makes a superior drink

Top container is plastic. Therefore hard to clean, stains and cracks very quickly. Lasts for about a year and then stains and cracks. This is not an item to buy every year!.

    Must HAVE!

    Review by

This electric moka pot is sure to put all your stovetop pots up for sale or the dumpster. It's fast, makes as great if not better coffee than a stovetop and best of all, it doesn't require any attention. Simply plug it in, push the start button, go do whatever, and come back for a wonderful cup of coffee. Too bad there isn't a larger size for entertaining...

Great Taste, Easy To Clean, Quick Brewing, Easy To Use

Bigger size wb fantastic, Small Water Container

    Some Good - Some Bad

    Review by

The coffee takes a long time to brew and if the pot isn't exactly perfect during brewing - it makes a big mess. The coffe does not stay warm very long in the caraf.
I do like the way the coffe is made with the filter and the water spout coming out for preperation. It is a nice looking pot.
Really wish it was faster and kept coffee warm longer.

    Easy To Use, Great Taste

    Messy, Very slow, Noisy
