Lavazza Gold Selection Espresso whole bean coffee is a blend made up of sweet Brazilian coffee beans, smooth Central American and fine Asian varieties. This roast lends itself to an espresso that is perfect for milk-based drinks and works well when paired with rich creamy desserts.

Tried and true, Lavazza Gold Selection is consistent. It offers reliable results on a variety of espresso machines. It produces a strong cup of espresso with a nice crema. It all depends on your palette however, Italian espresso roasts are not oily and dark, they are complex and flavorful. You be the judge!

I bought this due to the good reviews. I bought a new automatic espresso machine and was shopping for good beans to use with it. I have tried Starbucks from Costco and this gold selection that I just bought from SCG. I think this bean is totally lake of the coffee aroma.. When I brew my Starbucks, the whole house smells coffee, but this one is not. I am not sure it's because of the freshness of the coffee or not. My bag says expires Aug, 2013.. But I am very disappointed. I still have other two bags of different coffee that I purchased together, hope I can find a good one to stick with. Otherwise I might just go back to Costco.

My #1 favorite bean for my Capuccinos!

I prefer a dark roast when it comes to my espressos. I spent a few years as a barista so I have savored a number of coffee beans. Although Illy Dark Roast Espresso is acceptable I find the Lavazza Gold Selection has a nice chocolate note that and a richness to it.
This is the second time I have had the Gold Selection, using the Illy in between because it is locally accessible.
This time, I could definitely taste the difference between the two coffee beans and in my mind, the Lavazza Gold Selection is the most enjoyable espresso from my Rancilio Silvia V.3 with PID and Rancilio Rocky grinder.

I echo the sentiments of the other reveiwers. Started out with Starbucks and Illy with my Incanto fully automatic, but, wasn't enamored. My husband was ready to go back to our drip coffeemaker until we discovered Lavazza. After experimenting with several varieties, settled on the Gold. We stray once in a while and always come back to the Gold. It's smooth, somewhat chocolaty which makes a great drink plain or with milk. We truly enjoy!

Pros:
Smooth

I find that Lavzza Gold is consistently the same. It has a gentle but robust flavor that is easy on the tongue. It is smooth and never acrid as some blends can be. It is thanks to Seattle Gear an affordable bit of luxury that reminds me of my many trips to Italy.

Pros:
Great Taste

The Espresso of Italy at home

It wasn't until I started traveling to Italy that I learned what a good cup of coffee was. Reproducing that at home wasn't easy. It took good coffee, like Lavazza Gold Selection, a good machine (I use a Seaco Incanto Deluxe), and the correct coffee:water ratio. For me is 9-10gms coffee to 1 oz water. A dopio in a Bodum 3oz glass makes my day. Also great 50:50 Gold Selection with DEK to reduce caffeine (my daytime blend). Life is good with Lavazza, at home or in Italy. IMHO Lavazza rules!

Pros:
Great Taste

Cons:
None
