Videos | Steam & Brew | Temperature Surfing on a Single Boiler Espresso Machine

If you own a small single boiler espresso machine that does not have an automatic boiler refill, it's important to ensure that you're using the machine correctly to mitigate damage to the boiler.

In this video, Gail talks to us about the importance of steaming before brewing and demonstrates our recommended process for this on the Saeco Aroma.

Other models that this process applies to includes the Saeco Via Venezia, any of the small DeLonghi single boiler machines, the Rancilio Silvia and the Ascaso Dream UP/Uno Pro models -- among others. If you're not sure if you should follow this process with your machine, check the manufacturer's technical specs; if it indicates auto-refill on the boiler or that it's using thermoblocks/thermocoils for steaming or brewing, then you don't need to follow this procedure. If it does not list these in the features and is a single boiler machine, following this process will extend the life of your machine.
