It has a stepless grind adjustment and while it doesn't have a traditional dosing hopper, it still has programmable dosing so filling your portafilter using the Mazzer Mini has never been easier. Control the dosing via simple buttons for single or double doses of espresso. The new set up also has a volume option and digital display on top of the Mazzer Mini's coffee funnel.
Features & Functionality of the Mazzer Mini Electronic Doserless Grinder
- Large Capacity: The sturdy clear plastic bean hopper with finger guard holds holds a whopping 1.3 pounds of beans and features an integrated trap door that allows for easy changing of beans without emptying.
- Consistent Grind: The stable stainless steel 64mm burr grinders are flat (rather than conical) and remove for easy cleaning. Designed to operate at a low RPM (rotations per minute) so that minimal heat builds up and is transfered to your beans.
- Doserless: While it doesn't have a traditional dosing hopper, it still has programmable dosing. You control between 4 and 16 grams per measure, and features a digital display with shot counter.
|How Does it Compare?||
The Mazzer Minis come in three configurations: a 58mm Mazzer Mini Flat Burr Espresso Grinder with a physical doser on the front, a 64mm Mazzer Mini Electronic Type A Espresso Grinder with programmable dosing functionality atop a funnel, and the 64mm Mazzer Mini Electronic Type B Espresso Grinder with a funnel and dosing begins when you tap the portafilter up against it. Also throw into the mix the branded Rocket Mazzer Minis which are essentially similar in a matching case style for Rocket espresso machines.

Looks good, grinds a nice powder but the fact is it does not grind consistent dose weight per seconds programmed into the single and double dose buttons. It will always be a different weight dose. This is because the machine cannot consistently control bean feed from hopper into the grinder.

Great, if you can afford it.Review by John

This machine is truly top of the line. As you get into espresso, you quickly learn that there is little room for error. Other machines come close (Vario), but are not reproducible or reliable. What I mean by that is if you dial it in with one type of bean, then switch to other beans and try to go back to the first bean, it will NOT be the grind coarseness you dialed in before - leading to the never ending dial in process. This machine does not have that problem. I've marked my favorite beans on the neck of the machine and when I go back and forth, I do not have to re-dial...ever. Though it is expensive, and if you truly love espresso, you will use this machine all the time and you'll love it. I think in alot of areas in life, quality wanes but when you find something where the quality is truly second to none, you're willing to throw in a few more bucks.

Do yourself a favor and get this grinderReview by Pete

I was going to get a less expensive grinder, maybe one for $400. A barista at the best coffee shop in my city told me to try and get one of these if at all possible.
I'm so glad that I did. My old grinder is a very well respected grinder at the $230 price range.
It was never easy to get the coffee to go through at a finer grind.
All I do with this grinder is press the button and 23 seconds later I have a double porta filter full of perfectly ground coffee.
I like how I can program the time for the grinder to run to either 1 cup or two cups, so I don't have to stand there and press the button.
Also, the stand that holds the porta filter works very nicely.
Because the coffee goes straight into the porta filter, some of it spills over into the tray below it. I didn't like that, so I ordered an inexpensive hand held vacuum from Amazon and it works like a charm.
Also, when the grinder first arrived, I needed to adjust it to a bigger grind to "prime the pump", then I was able to adjust it back down.
Also, it is easy to change the setting of how fine the coffee is ground.
