Julie S asked: Is the hot foam produced equivalent to microfoam? May 20, 2012

Kaylie KStaff: The Aeroccino has two types of frothing wands, one for frothed milk for lattes, and one that produces more foam for cappuccino. We have found that the foam that is produced is a denser foam than just large bubbles, and is very close to microfoam. Jun 1, 2012

Nora P asked: Hi - Nespresso told me this does not have Teflon coating but it does have another type of non-stick coating. Does anyone know what it is made of? Also how do people like this? Thanks Apr 9, 2012

Kaylie KStaff: We contacted Nespresso regarding the materials used in the the Nespresso Aeroccino Plus. Their representative provided us with the following information: "The Aeroccino uses a product called PTFE, or poly-tetra-flouro-ethylene. This substance is perfectly safe to use in the Aerocinno, as temperatures have to reach over 500F or 350C to begin to see any chemical deterioration of PTFE. The Aeroccino has a max temperature of ~160F (~70C)." Apr 24, 2012

A shopper asked: When making a Latte - filling the milk steamer / frother to the top line the milk never gets really hot.. A real steam latte machine reaches 160 - 180 degrees? Lattes go luke warm REALLY fast and are never hot? Am i missing something? Dec 2, 2012

Johnny C: This device has a temperature sensor that will sense how hot the milk gets. I know this because if you try to steam more the device will start to over heat as it gets older. The way they had me test if the device is working is to use water and see if it gets hot. If you're hoping for 160 - 180 you might be hoping for too much and stick with a real steamer. Also you should call the support line if the device is found defective they will ship you out a new one if you're within the warranty. Dec 6, 2012

Teri KStaff: Unfortunately this Aero3 will not be able to get your milk quite as hot as a traditional steam wand, because it turns off automatically and with a steam wand, you can leave the wand submerged as long as you'd like for temperature. We do love this machine, however, as it's simple and straightforward to use! Dec 6, 2012

Gregory C: Don't fill it quite so full, and maybe you'll have better luck. I like the machine. Dec 7, 2012

Becky B: Mine doesn't get very hot either - must be a setting on the machine itself. Dec 7, 2012

A shopper asked: I was wondering if anyone has tested this product with non dairy milks like almond or other? Dec 20, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Teri KStaff: We have done lots of frothing with the Nespresso Aero3 with soy, and been very pleased with the results. I would expect that you'd be just as pleased with the froth from almond milk. A video review of a few of our favorite stand alone frothers using soy is below, and I hope this helps!

Robert B: We use the frother/steamer with non-dairy milk, however it is a bit touchy. It does not seem to work at all with rice milk and only works with certain brands of almond milk. We have had the best frothing with Trader Joe's brand, but that no longer seems to be in-stock. Diamond brand does not work at all.

We now use Pacific brand, specifically vanilla, organic, and that makes a great foam.

RYAN D: I have used it with dairy and non dairy products. It works best with daily. However I mostly use almond milk the aero3 is very inconsistent with almond milk. Sometimes it froths very well and other times it does not I am still attempting to figure out how to get a more consistent froth. Overall I am glad I have the aero3 and would suggest it Dec 21, 2013

se mi l asked: Hi. I was wondering if the stand alone unit of the Nespresso Aero3 can be cleaned using a sponge and running water, and if it is somewhat waterproof. Having to carefully clean my current frother not to wet its electric components everyday drives me insane. Thanks in advance! Jul 17, 2012

Kaylie KStaff: While you can clean the base of the Nespresso Aero3 carefully with a damp sponge, I would use caution and not put it under running water. The nice thing about this frother is that the interior carafe is nonstick for easy cleanup. Jul 30, 2012

Great unit, not too confident in Nespresso, though

This is a great little frother. It's nearly silent and is very easy to operate. SCG rated care and maint. as a "2", but I think it cleans up fairly easily. I have read complaints elsewhere about the unit having a short life span, but I think those reviews are for the older unit. Hopefully this one lasts longer.

That said, I ordered this item thinking I would get the version that is in the photo and video. I liked the two little attachments and the storage on the base. Just know, if you're ordering after 11/26/13, that the pictured unit is not the one you will get. You will get the newer version (at least that is what SCG explained when I asked about this), which has one attachment with a removable spring (so the one attachment can be used two ways) and with no storage in the base.

Instead, the inside of the lid has two little tabs that the removable spring fits around so it sort of 'locks' into place. I had an issue with the lid (see below) so I can't say if the spring will get milk on it when the unit is in use. I also don't know if repetitive attaching/removing of the spring will cause it to lose its shape or to wear out faster than it would otherwise. Time will tell, I guess.

I had the issue of my frother arriving without a lid. Seattle Coffee gear directed me to Nespresso, who directed me back to SCG. SCG resolved the issue by calling Nespresso themselves, so no complaints about that (though I wish they would update the product photo). They were very helpful.

Nespresso, though, sent me a lid without the little plastic tabs (even though the little plastic bag it's in says "Aeroccino 3"). I assume it is a lid for the older style unit that had the base storage. I called Nespresso to ask about it, and they didn't seem to know what I was talking about. I said I received the lid for the older version of the Aeroccino 3 but I bought the newer version. They kept asking if by "newer version" I meant the Aeroccino plus. I tried to explain what I had in hand and it just seemed to confuse things further. It was an interesting phone call. I will just be keeping the lid they sent me.

If you order this, and it's missing parts, be prepared to either improvise or just send it back and start over. Nespresso doesn't seem to differentiate between the newer and older models of this unit, so who knows which replacement parts they'll send you. I ended up buying a cheap little pill box from Walmart to store the spring.
