Features & Functionality of the Saeco Odea Cappuccino Machine

  • Adjustable Ceramic Burrs: Burrs will stay sharper longer and the grinder is much more quiet. You can easily adjust to use your favorite type of bean.
  • Simple Interface: Select your shot volume and press the cup button once or twice for single or double shots.
  • Easy Maintenance: Removable brew group requires minimal cleaning.
  • Large Water Tank: Fifty ounce removable reservoir can be setup for the Aqua Prima water filter to minimize scale build up. Convenient side access makes it easy to refill and clean.
  • Easy Froth Wand: Panarello attachment makes frothy milk easy to produce without much skill required. It also dispenses hot water for Americanos or tea.
  • Cup Warmer: Pre-warm up to six espresso cups on the top of the machine.
  • Removable Tray: Easily adjust the tray or remove it completely to accommodate taller cups.
Pros
  • OptiDose - Choose between seven and 10.5 grams of coffee to be dosed into your shot for a richer flavor.
  • Rapid Steam - Quickly heats up for steaming so you don't have to wait much longer for it to be ready for frothing. This functionality means you'll need to pull some hot water through the steam wand after you're finished steaming so you don't burn your shot.
Cons
  • No Bipass - We wish you could make shots using the pre-ground bipass, giving you more coffee brewing options.
  • No SBS - Unlike the Talea models, this doesn't have the Saeco Brew System that allows you to change the pressure for more or less crema.

A shopper asked: Can you still use the steam wand without the cappuccino attachment to make lattes and just heat milk on this machine? I would like to find a machine that does both steam milk manually but offer attachment for one touch cappuccino option. thank you! Oct 25, 2013

Jeff P: Yes you steam your milk separate from all other functions. The espresso process is separate but extremely easy. I own 2 machines, one at our permanent home and the other at our winter home. I love this machine and use it 5-7 day per week. Oct 29, 2013

Eugene K: It does come with the standard steam wand, although I've never used mine. It's plastic, rather than the stainless steel I had on my other machine. Oct 29, 2013

Michael M: Yes, I use the steam wand without any attachments to froth and heat milk, re-heat tea, etc. Oct 29, 2013

Peter C asked: Do I have to turn this machine off after I use it? I typically just use it in the morning for myself but, on occasion, I may make a shot in the afternoon or my wife may want to draw hot water from it. But it primes itself and spits out brown, hot water every time you turn it on. I notice leaving it on for a little while causes the green temperature light to blink. Can I just leave it on during the day and shut it off at night when I'm officially done with it? Dec 5, 2013

Teri KStaff: You will notice the green light on your machine blinking when the Odea Cappuccino goes into sleep mode, and can choose to leave the machine on and just wake it up when you want to brew. The rinse cycle (when it dispenses the hot water at start up) is actually a good thing though, as it preheats and clears the lines of the unit to give you the hottest cup. Hope this helps clarify! Vlad K: Thanks, i noticed that same green blinking light on my machine. When in sleep mode does it keep the ThermoBlock hot? also what is the best way to wake it from sleep mode? Dec 8, 2013
Teri KStaff: In sleep mode, the boiler is at a very low temperature, but the thermoblock for steam will only heat when you turn that knob at the top of the machine. As the green light blinks in this energy saving mode, you are still at a lower temp than brewing. The machine has a jump on heating to brew, however, since it isn't warming from cold. You can wake the machine by just pressing the cup button. Dec 9, 2013
A shopper asked: what type of beans work best with this machine? Nov 28, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Teri KStaff: For any superautomatic machine, we recommend using a matte finish bean. Generally the darker roasts are oily, and so it is best to go with a medium roast or anything that is drier. Dec 6, 2012

Did alot of research prior to purchasing this unit, could not find one machine that someone did not hate. I chose the Saeco because my wife wanted simple cappucino (no hand frothing, grinding, etc). Have it almost a month, making several cappucinos, chai teas and regular teas a day and loving it. I am comparing it to a Mr. Coffee steam machine, Wegmans, Starbucks and DD. So far, I believe it makes a better drink.

Pros:
Great Taste, Quiet, Quick Brewing

So good I bought two of them!

We purchased our first Saeco Odea Cappuccino Espresso Machine about a year ago and we just love the simplicity and speed of the machine. I am able to make my own espresso in about 5-7 minutes including cleaning the machine prior to going to work in the morning saving the unknown waiting time in line at Starbucks. No more chancing if I will end up behind a pharmaceutical rep ordering 10 drinks and stretching out my wait time. We also now have a vacation home and one of our first purchases was an identical machine. I highly recommend the machine. Don't waste your money on another brand.

Pros:
Great Taste, Quiet, Commercial Grade, Quick Brewing, Large Water Container, Easy To Use, Easy To Clean

Cons:
