A shopper asked: Just wondering how coarse this grinder is able to grind? Would I be able to grind coarse enough for espresso with it, or is it strictly for turkish coffee? Thanks! Sep 11, 2013

Kristin S: They demonstrate this grinder on the SCG site while making the coffee. I believe this is adjustable to a degree.

Marcus D: The Turkish grinder has a nut/bolt action where you can set it coarse to fine. Obviously, it works brilliantly at superfine, fine, etc., but it does fine espresso grind great. You could possibly even get away with a medium-fine.

One characteristic that took getting used to is that it takes much (much) longer to grind the same amount that an electric grinder would take. An electric grinder might do the job in 10 or 15 seconds that would take a minute or two by hand. But it's worth it!!

Paul M: I'm currently using mine to grind beans course enough to use in a Chemex so espresso should be no problem. You just need to adjust the burr plate. Sep 19, 2013

John b asked: : Who makes this grinder and how does it work with the aeropress and mypressi? Jul 30, 2013

Teri KStaff: We get this grinder from Turkish Coffee World, and since it really is designed for Turkish applications, I would recommend looking at the Hario grinders. They hold a larger capacity and make adjusting for various levels of coarseness and fineness pretty easy, so you can absolutely get good results from an Aeropress or Mypressi. laura r asked: can I grind beans coarse enough to use in a drip coffee maker? Jun 1, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Teri KStaff: This Turkish Coffee Grinder is not designed to have the range for both a coarser application like drip as well as Turkish grinding. I would suggest looking at the Hario Skerton if you need a hand grinder for drip, which can be found at the link below:

Excellent Turkish Coffee grinder

Decided I wanted to do the turkish coffee thing. Got a high end cezve from instanbul. Wanted a proper grinder to match. This is the real deal - at first I wasn't getting a good grind (too course), then realized all I had to do was use the included crank to adjust it to Turkish grind. Man does it work well. Now I've got great Turkish coffee. A cevze (ibrik) of copper is extremely important imho, but a grinder is the entire key to a proper turkish brew. Takes a little bit of elbow grease when you grinding this finely (I've read so fine you should be able to put your fingerprint in the grinds), but it's not unwieldy, and you don't need too many beans for a small number of servings. Make sure you don't get the grinder wet, particularly the parts on the inside, and shake out the grinds to keep any buildup of rancid oils. Overall - Highly recommended.

Recently bought the hand grinder and love it. It grind coffee well. There are no big chunks as with other grinders.

So I would recommend for occasional coffee drinker.
