Pulling a good shot is as much an art form as it is a recipe. So prepare your at-pressure piece de resistance in style with the Ascaso Dream. A stunningly-simple control cluster and analog temperature dial puts you in the cockpit over your morning brew—without the ever-distracting set of options and buttons we've grown too accustomed to. Inside, an oversized thermoblock offers stable thermal mass and quick, on-demand heat. Better, Ascaso includes a host of optional accessories like alternative brew baskets (including an ESE basket) and steam tips that lets you set up your machine just like you always wanted. Your kitchen never looked so good.

Features and Functionality

  • Sleek Design - A compact, solid aluminum case offers bold lines that call to mind vintage consumer goods.
  • Quick Thermoblock - An outsized thermoblock offers quality heat retention and quick steps up or down to steam temp.
  • Accessories Abound - Ascaso includes everything you need to brew including a fantastic tamper, an optional panarello steam tip and both pressurized and nonpressurized (and ESE Pod) baskets.
  • Important Improvements - New to the Dream line, ESE pods now fit in their own (included) portafilter basket! No adapters, kits or special parts required.
  • Resourceful Reservoir - The water reservoir pulls out sideways and can be refilled without removing from the machine.
  • Gorgeous - The curvy design and clean face looks great in any kitchen.
  • Analog Operation - A manual steam wand, toggle switches and an analog temperature gauge make the Dream a joy to use.
  • Tremendous Tamper - The included polished tamper is solid and has fantastic fit and finish. And, since the portafilter is a tad smaller than the average, this is a good thing.
  • Water Tank Woes - A water sensor or internal float design would be a welcome addition to the water tank.
  • Simplistic - Minimalist—for better or worse—design means your grind, tamp and technique must be on-point for good nonpressurized shots.
SCG Staff Says... There's something to be said about simplicity, and the Dream's retrofuturistic 1950s design—complete with analog toggles and temperature gauge—pairs well with its no-frills operation.
How Does it Compare?

Ascaso's recent machine update adds a newly designed portafilter, which can now accept ESE pods without the need for a special adapter! Also, the thermoblock is now lined in stainless steel and the steam wand assembly sports a better sealing connection to help eliminate leaks and scale.

Tips and Tricks

Make sure to brace the base of the Dream while tightening in the portafilter.

does it really take 5 minutes for it to warm-up?
A shopper on Dec 12, 2016
Best Answer: Yep! Though I'd recommend a warming flush of water through the portafilter before brewing.

Hope this helps!

Hello- Is there any chance you'll carry the cloud white with box wood handles version?
Daniele D on Jul 29, 2017
Best Answer: Hello!

We can definitely arrange for a custom color from the Ascaso factory for you! There will be a longer lead time, especially since they'll build your machine to order and it is currently EU holiday season. But you can set up a custom order by calling in at 866.372.4734

Is this an v3?
A shopper on Feb 26, 2017
Best Answer: Hello! Ascaso doesn't actually use 'versions' in their manufacturing schema, version numbers are an affectation used by other retailers who import infrequently. We source our Ascaso Machines direct from their factory in Spain, and reorder every other month. These are the latest model, with a manufacture date of late 2016. Hope this helps!

Perfect creamy shotReview by Katie
I bought this espresso machine about 8 years ago, replaced the boiler at around 5 years, did regular maintenance on it and have been very happy with it! Especially since it creates the most heavenly creamy shot for your lahtes! Four it's price point it is the best machine. (Posted on 11/24/2017)
Lasted Almost 4 YearsReview by Babs
I'm the only one who drinks espresso in the house. And I don't have a latte every day. So when my machine died the other day, I was quite disappointed. At least I hadn't spent thousands on it like I had on my last machine! I was hoping to get more than 4 years out of it, especially because it doesn't see a ton of use. But it did make a great latte, cappuccino, etc. A basic machine, looked adorable on my counter and a decent price. (Posted on 8/26/2017)
Excellent - Very happy with my purchaseReview by Dave
I bought this about a month ago. So far so good. Several of my friends have espresso makers that I have used (that ranged in price from $500 to $1,000). This one is just as good if not better than all of them. If you're thinking of buying an espresso maker I think you would be very happy with this one. (Posted on 3/18/2017)
