  • Behind the Scenes at SCG: Holiday 2020

    Hey coffee fans! We’ve all had quite the year here at Seattle Coffee Gear and we’re sure you have too. With the difficulties from COVID-19 we’ve almost all shifted to working from home, while instituting strict social distancing and cleaning guidelines for staff that has to be on site. We’re really proud of how the whole team pulled together here (figuratively speaking of course!), especially as we’ve dealt with the holiday rush!

    Holiday Content

    Our video team worked hard to create awesome video content all holiday long. As you may have guessed, we tried to film as much of it in single sessions as possible. We also made sure multiple hosts were never in the studio at the same time to make social distancing a little easier. 

    We’re so glad we were able to focus on delivering content that helped with buying decisions, because it was very hard to look at machines in person this year. We’re glad everyone enjoyed the tops 3s, shopping guides, gifting tips, and host favs. We also were excited to share Ariel and John’s tips and recipes, and hope they made you holiday just a bit brighter.

    Holiday Shopping Rush!

    Our shipping teams have been doing an outstanding job of responding to the huge holiday rush this year. They’re some of the real heroes of the company, and have been working with our shippers to get everything sent out. 

    Our Customer Service and Sales teams have been working hard to help everyone with their holiday shopping and getting their new machines set up. We’ve seen some of the highest volume of contacts ever this holiday, and we’re working our butts off to get back to everyone!

    Coffee, Coffee, Coffee

    We’ve really enjoyed the set of holiday roasts we’ve seen from across our roasting partners. Delicious, easy to work with coffee for a range of brew methods has helped to keep us going as we push through the holiday rush!

    We’re all eager to get back to the office and see each other, as well as provide more dynamic, exciting coffee content. We have big plans in the works across our teams for 2021, and we really hope you join us. 

    Most importantly, we’re thankful for you this year. Our customers are some of the best in the world, and we love bringing you our unique blend of content and retailing. We hope you have a wonderful, safe holiday this year, whether it’s already partway concluded, or hasn’t really started yet!

  • Behind the Scenes at SCG!

    We've been busy as can be over the last few months. Holidays are always an intense time for retail, and balancing that with offering fun and educational content has been a real trick this year! Here's some insight into what some of our teams have been up to!

    Creative Crew

    For our part, the creative content team has spent as much time as possible cooking up fun video and blog content for everyone. We've also worked hard to provide a useable, attractive shopping experience on the site as well! From our site's holiday page, to Instagram, to video posts, we've all been busy! On top of this, Gail has been working away with our store buildout team to prep for our new brick and mortar location in the Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood WA!

    We can't wait to get back to bringing you more educational, creative, and informative content in 2019. All of your favorite SCG personalities will be on hand to ring in the new year.

    Sales Teams

    From our phone/web sales team to the folks in each of our retail stores, we love our sales teams! It's important to us to do more than sell coffee and equipment. The key is selling you the RIGHT equipment. If we can save you time and money on your quest for the perfect coffee you'll love, we want to. Our sales teams in retail and online do their best to do that, and we think they do a great job. For the holidays, they've seen one of our busiest seasons yet! Between promotions and the ability to offer insightful opinions on equipment, we've had a great time bringing you great products. So the next time you shop with us, give us a call or a chat to get an extra personal touch!

    Customer Service

    Our CS team is full of superstars! It's not hard to imagine that customer service is one of the hardest hit parts of any retailer during the holidays. From suggestions for content down to help with machine issues, our CS team has been extremely busy. That doesn't stop them from offering incredibly friendly, helpful service every step of the way. We love this team to the moon and back!

    Shipping and Repair

    Our shipping and repair teams are often the unsung heroes of the holiday rush. Our warehouses are always at their busiest this time of year, and it's a testament to the folks that work in them that we're able to keep up! Beyond orders, our repair team always receives loads of last minute requests to make sure that customers' existing machines are in holiday shape. These people always knock it out of the park, and we're so thankful for their hard work!

    But our teams don't stop there. From our commercial crew, to our accounting team, to our refurbishment department, we have so many people to be thankful for this holiday season. On top of all of that, we wouldn't have any of these wonderful people here if it weren't for folks like you! So thank you for spending some of your time with us this year, we can't wait to see what 2019 brings!

  • Seattle Coffee Gear Rewards: Get Rewarded For Drinking Coffee!

    Program Review

    The Seattle Coffee Gear Rewards program is designed to reward coffee lovers like you with, you know, more coffee. Once you create an account, the savings are automatically stored in your SCG Rewards. We made it easy to see how much you’ll make by including the points earned under eligible products on the website. Rewards are earned with each purchase on eligible products after all the discounts (coupons, store credit, rewards, gift cards) and other deductions are applied.

    We’re pretty open here at Seattle Coffee Gear, but you already knew that from our videos and blog. As with any Rewards Program, we have rules to keep it fair and keep all the caffeinated goodness flowing.

    Earn

    • You can earn and redeem points with each purchase
    • See estimated points that will be earned on product purchases before buying
    • Points are earned on the total purchase after discounts and deductions

    Redeem

    • Easily redeem points at checkout for maximum savings
    • Points will expire after 365 days from the date of earning
    • Gift cards expire after 90 days from issued date

    Point System

    The minimum value of rewards points before a gift card is issued is currently 250 points or a $5 balance. Once you reach the minimum—that’s an easy feat to achieve in the 365 days—you can use your rewards to purchase all the caffeinated goodness you desire. If you’re wondering what 250 points look like in products, that’s about two months worth of coffee and some cleaning supplies—coffee friends, descale those machines for the freshest coffee! We swear by our (more than) gently used office Technivorm that when we clean it, the coffee’s just oh-so-good.

    After 35 days, recent purchase points will go into your Rewards stash until $5 is reached. Ready points will be sent as a digital gift card to your email in increments of five. On orders that exceed the minimum $5 value, you’ll be issued one gift card with your balance, but in increments of five. For example, a rewards balance of $54.50 will send a gift card with a $50 value. The remaining $4.50 will remain in your Rewards until the minimum $5 balance or 250 points is met.

    Can points expire?

    Points currently expire 365 days after the date they are earned. Issued gift cards expire 90 days after they are sent to you. We recommend saving support@seattlecoffeegear.com to your address book to ensure your gift cards are received in your inbox.

    To start earning SCG Rewards, sign up for an account. Yep, that’s it! Once you sign up, Reward Points will automatically accrue with each purchase whether you’re in store or online—make sure you’re logged in to earn those points, though!

    Or, on the off chance you don’t wish to participate in SCG Rewards, you can opt-out at the time you sign up for an account or contact our support time.

    We’re all treats and no tricks here—we’ve included everything we think  you’ll need to know to take advantage of the sweet savings. We want to honor our fellow coffee fiends by creating a rewards system that helps you save in the long run and satisfy that caffeine craving.

Enter: Ask a Question—our way of saying, “Hey, we know you’ve got burning questions best answered before you’ve made a purchase.” Ask a Question is an interactive community of machine owners and product experts answering questions using their real experience. If it goes unanswered, our Crew steps in with the best response—we’re coffee machine owners, too!

    Where To Find It

    Under every product, we've included the "Ask a Question" tab. Click on the tab and you'll see all the questions and answers. To ask and answer questions, you can be anonymous or log in to your account.

    How This Works

    1. Type in your question. If there are matching questions in our Q&A database, we'll show them immediately.
    2. If there aren't any, submit a new question. You'll get fast answers from customers who really own the item(s) and from our product experts. (About half the time you'll get an answer in under two hours, depending on your question and the item you are asking about...)

    Done! Now you can save time searching through the internet. If you need a place to start thinking of questions you'd want to ask, we've got you covered.
