How Does it Compare?
All parts that come into contact with water are BPA-free.
Best Answer:I'm not sure about the water that you're using, but it is definitely normal for the plastic components in the lid to produce a plastic-y or chemical smell for a little bit of time. As the kettle continues to be used (really, just the longer that it's exposed to air and can off-gas since the plastic is so new), the more this noticeable odor will dissipate until it's no longer there. This can be anywhere from a week or two to a month or slightly longer.
Best Answer:Safe? I'm not sure but I wash my Breville by hand. I would not submerge the electrical connection on the bottom. Plus the plastics can dry out and start to crumble from high heat of a dishwasher . You can clean it with vinegar and water. Shines and takes any buildup away! What are not safe (and very toxic in my opinion) are the dishwasher soaps that leave a coating all over your dishes, glass, etc. Would I want that in my coffee?? NO! I use BioKleen products or make my own. Or you can final rinse with vinegar.
I don't think so -- the silver bottom of the carafe itself is one half of the heating element and I'm guessing houses some electronics. The plate that plugs into the wall doesn't get hot -- the heating happens when the bottom of the carafe rests on the plate. That said, I've had this for over a year and it's very easy to clean. I just wipe with a dish towel, or swirl around some vinegar to descale.
Is there an automatic shutoff at boil? Does it hold temperature? Is there boil out protection?

Best Answer:This kettle does not shutoff at boil, however, the kettle is fitted with a safety device, which protects against overheating should the appliance be operated with insufficient water. If this occurs the kettle will stop heating. For additional safety your kettle is fitted with an additional thermal cut out. In the event of overheating, the kettle will automatically shut down to prevent further damage. It will hold temperature.
