My machine keeps turning off after a few minutes?
Laura O on Jan 3, 2015
Best Answer: I'm not sure why that would be happening. Generally, if nothing has been spilled on it, the machine will proceed through the brew cycle all the way. I would recommend checking the outlet (and potentially trying a different outlet), see if there's any condensation around the display or buttons (from heavy steam from brewing, or if something was accidentally spilled on it), and possibly allow the machine to dry out if so (overnight or for a day). After that, my best suggestion would be to contact Breville, especially if you're under their warranty.

I drink regular coffee while my wife drinks decaf. How easy is it to change types?
A shopper on Jun 1, 2013
Best Answer: It is possible to use any type of coffee you want, including ground. However, keep in mind that you will have to clean/dry the basket chute attachment after each use if you are super picky and don't want some grinds from either kind. For your purposes you would probably want to use paper filters so that you don't have to dry the gold filter basket every time.

The only other issue may be that the machine's sweet spot does really rely on being able to put a bunch of beans in the hopper and being able to set an alarm or start it easily. Switching types every morning would mean needing to measure it out each time so that may kind of defeat the convenience purpose.

id like to know how long does it take to make single serving like 8ounces?
A shopper on Dec 10, 2013
Best Answer: depending on potency of brew you select (mild verses bold and then intense) and size of serving, it can take anywhere from 5 minutes to as long as 8~9 minutes. It can't really be compared to a k-cup in speed but a k-cup can't compare in flavor.

I have gone through three of these machines in one year due to the water sensor not working. Am I doing something wrong? We love this machine, but keep on having this same problem. We descale at least once a month and follow all other cleaning recommendations.
Krista A on May 7, 2014
Best Answer: I have not had such issue. I've had the machine for nine months. it gets used twice a day on average. The 'de-scale' has come on twice in that time. I've followed the recommended procedure ( I run a fresh vinegar solution through twice) and then follow with 3 water only cycles. Never had a problem.
FYI I only use bottled/filtered water in the machine. Either 'Poland Spring" spring water, or water from the 'filtered' refrigerator tap.
I hope this helps.

Do I have to use whole beans or is using ground coffee an option?
jodie b on Jun 24, 2015
Best Answer: Ground coffee is an option. If using pre-ground coffee, select the ‘PRE-GROUND’ coffee setting. This will disable the burr grinder.

I am not able to change the number of carafes? Am I using a different model of the youbrewer?
Boyan N on Mar 7, 2014
Best Answer: I am not sure what you mean. This Breville YouBrew uses just one carafe, and there is a glass carafe model or a thermal carafe model, but they are not interchangeable. Hope this clarifies, but let me know if you have other questions!

the spout on the thermal carafe pours horribly! can I get another 12 cup thermal carafe to fit this machine?
Sal T on May 15, 2013
Best Answer: Unfortunately we do not offer a replacement 12-Cup Carafe that is compatible with this Breville You Brew, and I'm sorry you're unhappy with the way it pours! Generally I have found that if I pour slowly I won't get any of the spills I sometimes encounter when I pour a bit too fast. I hope this helps!

Not a good buy! Review by Julie
When the coffee maker was working it made a good cup of coffee. But with water pump problems and 2 replacements later I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone! (Posted on 7/28/2015)
A quality productReview by Leppie
After years of fighting with Cuisanart grind and brews ( they are commended for the venture into, the field) we decided on the Breville. A good decision. The product delivers across the board. Keep it clean as per the manual. As for the noise of grinding, hey, that's life, set it up to help you get up in the am. Nothing like the aroma of freshly ground coffee brewing in the kitchen.

Breville products are excellent. Our kitchen is a breville display at William Sonoma. We have never been disappointed. (Posted on 7/1/2015)
Paid high assuming quality.Review by well.....
I really like the look of this item and the reputation behind the brand. I grew tired of my coffee machines rusting and other POS issues.
The Breville was perfect and great for about a year. Well, I started grinding my coffee not three months ago and one morning (last week) the grinder just died... And let me tell you it was a dramatic death because it took like 45 seconds to wind down and completely stop. Dead. So I took it back to BBB (1 year warranty) and they let me get another but they only had a floor model, so I took it. Went home, tested the grinder and it ran for about 10 seconds and completely seized up; didn't even provide a dramatic death. Just died. WTF?! $200-some dollar coffee pot... Grrrrrrrr (Posted on 2/19/2015)
Stay Away from Breville CoffemakersReview by Don
We purchased the Breville You Brew with the glass carafe the first week of January 2014. We enjoyed using it and it brewed good coffee. Our main complaint during that year was the grinder was horribly noisy. If someone was trying to sleep in on a weekend morning and another person wanted to grind coffee to brew a pot....forget about sleeping in because the noise woke them up.

Two weeks after our 1 year warranty ran out the coffee maker first started to not pump water from the heating chamber and into the drip cone. We tried a few times to run the cycle again and then it failed to even make steam and the heating element under the pot would not heat. A total failure so I tossed it in the dumpster and moved on to a Technivorm. Never again will I buy a Breville of any kind. (Posted on 2/11/2015)
slow clockReview by George
I purchased one from Bloomies when they first came out. After about a week I noticed that the digital clock was losing about 2-3 minutes a week. Since I set up my coffee maker the evening before I go to bed to automatically brew when I get up, I rely on this feature. I have owned many coffee makers with digital clocks that control the brew start time and have never had this problem. I called Breville and they knew about the problem and they told me that some of the machines had this problem. They told me that as soon as they said they would send me a new machine. After calling every few months for about a year and getting no help or a new coffee maker from Breville, I returned the machine to Blooingdales and got a full refund. I then went out and bought a cuisinart. (Posted on 8/25/2014)
Good coffee...when it workedReview by Robdeedo
Loved the concept, design, automation, & taste of the coffee this machine produced. However, about 3 months after purchase, it simply stopped brewing & warming the coffee, despite following all of the instructions for care. Customer service was great and sent another machine. This one looked refurbished and lasted about 1 month before replicating the problem. Our 3rd unit lasted approximately 3-4 months before we cut our losses and asked for a refund. I really like this coffee maker!Review by Brett
First, a big thanks to SCG for posting all sorts of helpful videos and product comparisons- it really helped me choose a coffee maker.

Anyway, I really like this coffee maker. If you choose "single cup" mode, you can specify the size and strength of the coffee you want. The machine adjusts the water amount, amount of beans to grind, and how long the coffee steeps (it holds the coffee inside the filter for a set amount of time based on how strong you want your coffee, then releases it). So what this means is I can fill up the machine full of water (10 cups), fill up the bean hopper and then when I want just a cup of coffee i just select single cup and press go. I no longer have to measure anything - water or beans. The machines takes care of it. For me, this is the best thing. Oh and the fact that the coffee it makes is quite good.

Anyway, I am normally an Amazon shopper, but since I felt like I had made so much use of the info on the SCG website, I decided I would buy from SCG even if a little more pricey since I really appreciated the info and time they put into their video reviews. As it tuns out, they were actually cheaper than Amazon. I am a pleased customer and would recommend the coffee maker and SCG to friends. (Posted on 5/31/2014)
Don't buy it!Review by afi
Let me start by saying that ALL my appliances are Breville. I love them all because they look sleek, clean looking and you don't have to hide them. They are wonderful. When I wanted to buy a coffee maker, I naturally thought Breville is IT. I read the reviews and they were BAD! However, since my own experience with other appliances were great, I bought one. I am very sorry I did, because everything I'd read about this machine, unfortunately, is true. I am going to give it to one of our staff in the building, if they want it and buy my family a Cuisinart which I've read great reviews about.
This made me very sad indeed:( (Posted on 11/24/2013)
Best out thereReview by Kim
I am a serious coffee person. I have been through so many coffee makers that it is ridiculous. So we purchased a super-automatic espresso maker and that is great but.. This coffee maker really does compete with it. Smooth coffee every time and it is the same every time. Very dependable and looks great too. If i ever had to replace my espresso maker I would purchase another one of these!! (Posted on 1/31/2013)
