Product Description

With 17 grind settings, this handy Capresso Flat Disk Burr Grinder has a better range and offers more consistency than a blade grinder. The vertical grinding design prevents clogs and leaves fewer stale grinds behind. An insulated cover lid reduces grinding noise in this full featured value priced grinder. Disk grinders usually rotate faster than conical burr grinders, an unwanted side effect that warms the ground coffee with friction. They are less expensive than conical burr grinders, and are well suited for home use when grinding small amounts of coffee so theres is no time for heat build up.

Features & Functionality of the Capresso Flat Disk Burr Grinder

  • Vertical Grinder - The removable, vertical burr grinding plates are designed to operate with a low RPM (rotations per minute) so that your coffee beans maintain their intended flavor profile. Seventeen different grind settings allow you to somewhat control the consistency.
  • Function and Form - The Capresso grinder has separate On/Off buttons, so you can stop grinding or have a pulse grinding option. Or, use the electronic timer to grind from 8 to 40 seconds with the press of a button.
  • Capacity - The removable coffee bean hopper holds 14 ounces, and the easy-to-read settings on the side show you how position the plates to achieve the perfect grind for your ideal type of coffee.
  • Easy to Clean - The grind elements are removable and you should pull the burrs from the machine for occasional cleaning. The design of the system in the Capresso makes that easier than most other grinders.
  • Safe and Quiet - With features like an insulated safety lid and internal cord storage, this grinder does the job as safely and quietly as possible.
  • Design - These new grinders have a great look to them
  • Value - This coffee grinder is a great option with basic functionality
  • Colors - Available in Black or Stainless Steel
  • Grind - This is a coffee grinder not an espresso grinder. It will not grind fine enough although you could still use it if you have a pressurized portafilter with your machine
  • Clingy - No anti-static coating, so the grounds jump around
Suitable Applications Coffee Press, Drip Coffee, Espresso, Fine Drip / Pour Over
Minimum Time to Grind Double Shot 15 seconds

I am looking for a decent (coffee) grinder for one of my coffee clients, & they're not ready to spend a lot of money. How is the consistency of this grinder, and does it produce unwanted fines?
John F on Jul 23, 2013
Best Answer: The grinder is fairly consistent. Occasionally we'll get a bean stuck in the grinder and the disk will spin freely at a high rpm. Sounds cool, but not efficient. If by "unwanted fines" you mean the small little grounds that pack on top of each other to create the caked-on coffee ground build-up, then yes is does that, but periodic cleaning helps keep the build-up down and grounds free-flowing into the bin. Also, after you've dumped the grounds into the filter, there will be a remainder of grounds stuck on the plastic bin because of static, which apparently with this grinder there is a lot of. The area around it gets messy. Other than those things I think the grinder is pretty good for the money.

Great machineReview by Bon
I hope this machine last forever. It looks grand sitting on the counter and works like a charm. Love it. (Posted on 7/9/2012)
Affordable Burr Grinder that WorksReview by bike_n_row
I will admit that I was skeptical in ordering a burr grinder for [$] However, this entry level grinder does a nice job. This is my first time using a burr grinder and I was attracted to its small size. The static cling of the ground coffee has not been an issue.

Excellent overallReview by Alan
Excellent choice for auto drip machines and basic espresso. Not designed to compete with high end grinders that are paired with high end espresso machines, but an excellent companion to lower end espresso machines and drip machines. Produces a consistent grind and easy, reliable settings. Great value for the money.

horrible! misrepresents!Review by erin
poorly made: The settings are opposite of the directions.
unreliable: Every time i try to clean it, it stops working. After a friend with the magic touch fixes it i can get it to work again until it needs cleaning again.
no espresso: the grind isn't fine enough for espresso

A Great Burr Grinder For The PriceReview by Paul the Perfectionist
After a bad start (the 1st grinder failed after 3 days), the replacement from Capresso is working just great. The points in the staff's video are correct, concerning the fineness of the grind and static cling. I use a Senseo machine with a coffee duck for making my daily coffee. I find that this grinder easily allows me to match the grind found in the origional pods but with a richer tasting brew acheived.
