This pf works on lm linea?

For this specific bottomless portafilter, the 58mm for rocket espresso seems more wide in size for the puck. I'm wondering for best amount of doze, how much should I doze? 18-20g? But when I tamp it, its literally hitting the bottom of the filter like its nothing because it doesn't seem like its a lot of coffee. Please help.
Han L on Apr 8, 2014
Best Answer: The basket that comes with this bottomless protafilter is actually meant for a triple shot of expresso - thus the amount of coffee needs to be adjusted accordingly. You can also remove the triple shot basket and replace it with singe or double shot baskets - and use the amount of coffee that you are used to using with these smaller baskets.

Is this only use for double shot or is it only for single shots?
ISMAEL C on Jul 21, 2016
Best Answer: This bottomless Porta filter came with what I would call a triple shot basket. The video shows several basket options the rocket comes with. I use the larger basket and still pull a normal shot. Baskets can be swapped out depending on your taste in coffee, the grind you choose and the type of beans. This portaffilter and basket really shows you how your tampering and grind are doing. If anything is off you will get spray or uneven "rat tail " from your shot. The bottomless Porta filter will help you tune your shots and as a side benifit it is easier to clean. You may need to tune your tamping and or grind to get the shot to pull correctly. The video on the SCG page is great for demonstration of the way the shot shou,d look and the differnt basket sizes . It will work for a double or single shot if you define a double as a longer time ... if you are asking if two streams of coffee come out of the bottom the answer is only one stream of coffee will come out of the bottom.
I hope this helps. The bottomless is the best way to tune your grind and tamping for your shots and I highly recommend it to anyone who is serious about their shots (or coffee).

Will this fit a Rancilio s24?
gene f on Jun 3, 2014
Best Answer: I have a Rancilio bottomless portafilter that I got for my old Silvia. The folks at SCG told me that it would fit the Rocket. (I ended up getting the Rocket one to match aesthetics). So if the Silvia one fits your Rancilio machine, so should the Rocket.

This bottomless protafilter looks as if it has a rim at the bottom, while some look more clean cut and straight (sans rim)...Is this observation true? And if so, is this a worry?
Kevin on Feb 9, 2017
Best Answer: The portafilter does have a slight rim, but i wouldn't call it a concern. It still accepts deep triple baskets just fine.

Hope this helps!

From the answers below, it looks like this uses a triple basket...but why? Could we not use a double basket in this? I also have a strong preference for a ridgeless basket...can I use a ridgeless basket in here? On my current bottomless, I replaced the basket holder (wire) with a thicker gauge wire that holds ridgeless baskets well.
Spencer W on May 11, 2015
Best Answer: The bottomless ALLOWS for a triple basket, but it is not necessary to use a triple basket if you do not want to. You can certainly use a double basket if you choose and you can use a ridgeless basket as well

Does this have a 18 or 20 gram basket?
A shopper on Apr 7, 2015
Best Answer: You just need to use a triple basket on this. We carry a La Marzocco triple basket that will work with this portafilter and holds 20 grams. I have linked it below for your convenience.

I'm curious as to the quality of the shot in regards to this specific portafilter. I have a V1 Silvia, and from what I see there are many 58mm portafilters that are bottomless. Other than the handle being the same, is there any difference in quality of the shot using this over say a Rocket bottomless portafilter on the Silvia V1? thanks!

Bottomless Portafilter for Rancilio Silvia - V3 Style
Best Answer: The important thing will be in the fit. Portafilters spend to be very brand-specific, and the tabs on the sides of the portafilter can not only be a different height and length, but also orientation, and may not create as nice of a seal. We have definitely found that the Rancilio branded bottomless portafilter creates a better seal with the Silvia, so it can push water through the coffee rather than leaking around the edges of the portafilter, degrading the quality of the shot. Hope this helps!

I am not sure, is this original rocket-made portafilter or is it a one with cut spouts, as there are many of those out there?
A shopper on Nov 2, 2014
Best Answer: This Bottomless Portafilter is the Rocket branded portafilter, and is manufactured without a bottom as opposed to having been modified from a portafilter with spouts.

I have Delonghi Vintage Icona machine can I use this product with it?
And if yes do you ship to the UK?
A shopper on Oct 17, 2014
Best Answer: Unfortunately I am not sure that this Bottomless Portafilter for Rocket machines will work for your DeLonghi unit, as portafilters are brand and machine specific due to their size, tabs and tab placement. Without testing I would not know if it will work for your machine. Unfortunately we don't ship internationally. Sorry I can't be of further assistance on this for you!

Good Morning! Please explain what is the need and/or advantage in the bottomless portafilter. Does it increase the volume of the extraction?
James V on Oct 11, 2013
Best Answer: There are a few advantages to using a bottomless portafilter for extraction. One is that you are able to view the extraction as you brew in order to be sure that your tamp is even, since with a bottomless you can see that your espresso flows from the center of the bottom. Another is that you do not lose heat as the espresso travels through one or two spouts on a regular portafilter. And the biggest advantage is that you can often use a triple sized basket with a bottomless portafilter, since the bottom is open and can accommodate a deeper basket. This 58mm Bottomless Portafilter for the Rocket Models includes a triple basket. Hope this helps!

Great Portafilter!!!Review by William
Ok...I was on the fence on this one. Why do I need this??? It's gotta be a gimmick!!!
Just buy it and don't question why you are doing this crazy purchase...just do it!
I promise will take your coffee experience to a whole other level. I'm hooked and i am sure you will be too. I'm also a bit more wired as it comes with a triple shot basket. You can change it out, but I just really like the taste of the triple shot. Just so you know... I never once had a problem with coffee shooting all over me and all the other horror stories associated with this portafilter. Just remember to have the proper grind for your (fresh) coffee, correct tamp and then Enjoy!

Pretty close to perfectReview by David M.
I looked at these bottomless portafilter for years and dismissed the whole idea as a gimmick. I was wrong. Yes, opening up the portafilter gives you a clearer picture of your grind and tamp (and your screwups in that department), so this is a teaching tool of sorts. But more importantly, allowing your shot to flow freely wherever your shower screen and gravity takes it somehow yields a shot with an enormous amount of crema you will never see with a conventional portafilter. In addition, because your portafilter basket is not sitting in a closed metal holder, you do not get an accumulation of coffee oil and similar grunge in your portafilter. Cleaning is a snap because other than the accumulation in the basket itself, there really isn't anything to clean.

Just one downside - on occasion you will get some 'strays' that find their way through the puck. These may just make the inside of your shot glass or cup look funky, or they may even create little aerosol jets in odd directions - on your counter, all over your shiny Rocket machine, perhaps on you if you happen to be standing in the wrong place at the wrong time. Not a big deal, and just "nature's way of telling you something's wrong" with your technique, that your grinder burrs are getting worn and not giving you the most uniform grind in the world, or tipping up some other flaw.

Not sure there is any other single accessory you can buy - for any price, and certainly for under a hundred bucks - that will so radically improve your shots and your espresso making experience. Get one! (Posted on 9/2/2015)
FantasticReview by JKM
I using for single shot with the single portafilter basket now. For back-flashing, I use permanently the single portafilter (comes with the Rocket) with the blind basket so no need to switch the baskets. (Posted on 11/10/2014)
Very pleased!!!!Review by James M.
I'm very happy with my purchase....everyone should get one of these portafilters! It has made the Crema thick and rich compared to my double or single spout portafilters! I find it very forgiving especially with an over pressured tamp. Good price, good quality and very nice people to deal with...I certainly will deal with Seattle coffee gear again!
If you don't own one, you're doing yourself a great disservice when pulling an espresso shot or making a cappuccino or latte!
Thank you SCG (Posted on 10/9/2014)
Total necessity Review by Z@K!
I bought this because I thought it looked cool when it pours, but it turns out to be an absolutely necessary component in making the perfect shot of espresso. It allows you to fine tune by letting you see if you are grinding your beans too course or too fine (it sprays everywhere when it's too course), or if you are packing your basket too hard. I had no idea what a necessity it was until after I bought it. If you are serious about coffee you must have one of these! (Posted on 5/26/2014)
A must haveReview by Robert
I use the bottomless daily (unless I am pulling the shot into two cups, then I use the double spouted). Great diagnostic tool for adjusting grind or when switching coffee. It also makes it easier to identify when to stop a shot.
This portafilter also allows you to experiment with other filter manufacturers that are deeper than the stock double. (Posted on 4/12/2013)
Excellent qualityReview by Kim
I got this as part of the package for purchasing a Rocket espresso machine. It is beautiful and matches the single and double portafilters included with the machine. I can believe this item is worth about $70. Commercial quality. (Posted on 9/16/2012)
Fantastic!Review by Daniel J
Started using this portafilter to improve my shot pulls. A little messy when first dialing in a grinder (espresso can shoot everywhere if the grind is too coarse), but once the grind is close to where it should be this item works well to tell you what adjustments need to made.

The feedback I received from this portafilter improved my pulls more than anything else to date.

Easy To Use, Commercial Grade, Easy To Clean
