Diablo Blend by local favorite Caffe Ladro may sound scary and intimidating, the "Devil" Blend, but if you like it big and bold then this is your new brew. If you are transitioning from large commercial coffee conglomerates who notoriously burn their beans then this carefully prepared Dark Roast is a great selection.

SCG Tasting Notes

Dark, Full Bodied, Lots o' Dark Caramelly Flavors

Upfront and in-your-face flavors announced on the bag of 'Tobacco Leaf, Brown Sugar and Dark Chocolate' were present. This strong Fair Trade and Organic Certified Dark Roast has a big-body and that's the way we like it! If you like Middle Fork Roasters Tough As Nails Blend then put this in your pipe and smoke it. Or actually, put this in your Bonavita and brew it! Sometimes roasters go crazy trying to make coffee that is dark as night but it turns out to taste like motor oil and look like worcestershire sauce. This is an example of restraint. Sure, Caffe Ladro made it big and bold, but it is also good to the last drop.

SCG Recommended Brew Methods:

  • Pour Over
  • French Press

The SCG Crew supports coffee experimentation. We have tried mixing Caffe Ladro 75% Diablo Blend with 25% Fremont Blend for a special little in-house brew we like to call 'Devilment.' Your proportions may vary!

No Comparison - the bestReview by JW
I didn't think I can tell the difference between Diablo and other coffee, but after I drank Diablo, the other coffee does not quite taste as good. (Posted on 12/19/2014)
Best tasting coffeeReview by Ajil
After you tasted the Diablo you won't want to drink any other coffee. It has the most creamy, smooth, and tasty coffee you can buy.
I love it. (Posted on 11/6/2014)
Like licking an ashtrayReview by Gary
When they say notes of tobacco they greatly underestimate its punch. After drinking several cups, I could not get the flavor out of my mouth for the entire day. It felt like I had smoked a pack of cigarettes for breakfast. If you are a nonsmoker, this blend is NOT for you. After one brew, my beans found their way into the garbage can.

Caution: For smokers only!! (Posted on 4/29/2014)
I look forward to having my coffee in the morningReview by Frosty
I received Ladro Diablo whole beans as a lovely gift from Seattle Coffee Gear when I ordered my Frieling French Press and Baratza Preciso Burr Grinder. Oh my, is this coffee delicious using my new equipment. I savor every sip. I will be ordering more in the future. (Posted on 11/9/2013)
Great for someReview by David
I much prefer Kickapoo to these. I found the shots quite bitter even when properly temperature surfing and pulling a 24-27 (I prefer 27). It's alright and I think I would have loved it via french press. (Posted on 10/12/2013)
Free gift with my purchase from SCGReview by Frosty
As soon as I received my Frieling French Press and Baratza Preciso Grinder, I brewed up a pot of coffee using the Diablo Blend from Ladro. I could taste all three notes, tobacco leaf being the last. This coffee has a smooth, bold flavor that is pleasing to my palate.

Next month I will be vacationing in Washington with plans of visiting SCG and Ladro Coffee Cafe to purchase more of their coffee.
Thanks for the delicious gift! (Posted on 8/17/2013)
Got it free with espresso machine.Review by Rain
Very good, bold, but smooth flavor. I got this free with my CC1 machine and am very pleased. I used it to practice pulling shots on my new machine and really enjoyed the flavor. I really dislike "nutty" notes in my espresso and this was free of them. I love a dark roast with this much restraint. I honestly would have pegged it as an extra dark roast if I hadn't been told it was. The tobacco note is delicious to my palate! Goes great with milk! I wouldn't have purchased it on my own so I'm glad I got it as a gift. Will repurchase! (Posted on 8/15/2013)
