Product Description

With the Rocket Espresso Water Reservoir Filter, you'll have crisp, clean water with the right amount of minerals to extract a tasty espresso shot. Installation involves moistening the filter and placing it in the water tank. This handy filter will fit both Giotto and Cellini machines and many other brands with water tanks as well. Besides providing optimal water quality users will notice a reduction in scale buildup.

How Does it Compare?

The Rocket Espresso Water Reservoir Filter fits Giotto and Cellini models with tanks. The filter should be rinsed under cold water and placed into the reservoir so the membrane sack floats in the tank.

The filters should not be re-energized and once positioned in the reservoir, they should be left there until it is time to replace.

Tips and Tricks

The Rocket Espresso Water Reservoir Filter for espresso machines may last six to 12 months, but varies with usage.

I have a soft water system on my water supply. My question is, do I need to also use this water reservoir filter in my Rocket machine? Will it damage anything if I use both the soft water and the additional reservoir filter? More is better, right?
A shopper on Sep 9, 2014
Best Answer: Rocket gives a maximum hardness in the manual. You can test your water and determine if you are below that level already. If so then you don't need the filter.

With regard to lower is better, it may not hurt, but there needs to be some mineral level in you water. The boiler sensors use the conductivity of water to determine if it is full. Therefore if you had effectively distilled the water you would see some issues with the machine alerting to waterlevel. I doubt that would happen in this case.

I mix RO water with a bit of tap water to get mine right. I recommend that if your water is okay, skip the filter and just descale on the schedule recommended. Hope this helps. -Bill P

Noticed comments about recharging the pouch. Please can you advise, How long does it need to soak? What ratio water to salt? Is Normal table salt ok? How often does it need recharging? Please help

Best Answer: This filter works very well. You just take it out of the package and put it in the Rocket Water Tank and leave it. I tested my water before using this while in the tank and after using it. The water hardness is definitely lowered by this filter. It works for 1 year according to the package info. I have had it 2 months and it still works fine. I do not think it can be "recharged." The package is sealed and cannot be opened. It is supposed to be a disposable filter that is replaced in 1 year.

Will it fit the NS Oscar tight water filling opening?
A shopper on Jul 7, 2013
Best Answer: You could manipulate this Rocket Water Reservoir Filter to fit in a narrow tank like that of the Nuova Simoneli Oscar, however I am not sure how easy it would be to remove after use! For a machine like this, I might suggest using bottled/filtered water instead of this Rocket filter.

Will this work with the new R58?
A shopper on Apr 27, 2013
Best Answer: Yes, you can use this Rocket Water Reservoir Filter in the R58, as it essentially just needs to sit in the bottom of your tank.

How does this filter work Does it go inside the water reservoir?

thanks,

Best Answer: It is a softener in a little pouch; you place it in the water tank and it softens the water in there — does not need to be installed in any special manner, so it will work with most espresso machines.

I am on my third filter in a little more than 18 months of regular use and it functions as advertised. I can well filtered, "purified" water since the packet contains adequate minerals to meet sensor requirements but in the case that someone adds tap water to the mix, it seems to reduce the odd flavors and tastes that often appear in our municipal water supplies. I have used this for a year. Descaled after 8 months. There was no discolored water during the descale process. In the past I'd seen plenty of blue water. Not this time. I do recommend rinsing this filter on a regular basis...3 months at least. And, my water is moderately hard. (Posted on 1/14/2013)

I have been using this for a few weeks. It looks like it will be easy to use, and seems to work as advertised. There is minimal instruction. No information about recharging. (Posted on 11/30/2012)
