DeLonghi makes it easy to kick back and relax while you wait to enjoy your favorite foamy lattes and cappuccinos. The Lattissima EN520 is a compact machine that does all the work for you without making a mess. (And in a variety of cool colors, it looks good, too.) Using Nespresso capsules and its single-touch system, the Lattissima steams, brews and pours your favorite espresso drink right into your cup. All you'll need to do is place your cup underneath the spout, slide the milk tank onto the front of the machine and watch as your java is made from start to finish without lifting a finger.

How the DeLonghi Lattissima Works

  • Fill the milk container with your desired amount of milk and connect it to the machine.
  • Open the steam connector door by sliding it to the right.
  • Choose your favorite Nespresso capsule and insert it into the machine.
  • Adjust the milk froth regular knob to your desired amount of froth.
  • Place a cup under the coffee outlet and press the Cappuccino or Latte Macchiato button.
  • Machine will stop automatically once drink is completed.

Features & Functionality of the DeLonghi Lattissima

  • Illuminated Control Panel: Allows users to choose their favorite drinks with ease, featuring three milk and two coffee selections.
  • Patented Nespresso Capsules: No fuss or mess with grinding coffee beans, these capsules are loaded into the machine, and automatically ejected after brewing is completed.
  • Sliding Drip Tray: This machine has a sliding drip tray that will accommodate an array of cup sizes.
  • Easy to Clean: Makes cleaning a snap with a removable 30 ounce water tank, drip tray and used capsule container.
  • Mess Free - No grinder or errant coffee grounds to worry about. The Lattissima uses Nespresso capsules.
  • Single Touch - With the single-touch feature, even the most novice espresso lover will feel like an expert making drinks. With one touch of a button, this machine brews, steams, froths and pours your drink.
  • Not Entirely Recyclable - Unfortunately, the United States is one of the only countries that carries the Nespresso capsules and doesn't have a recycle center that will clean out the used grinds for you. Unless you have the time to clean them one by one, you'll find yourself dumping them in the trash.
  • No Control Over Coffee Strength - We found that you don't have any real control over the coffee strength with this machine.
How Does it Compare?

This machine is ideal if you're looking for an easy, one-touch system with zero mess.

This machine just arrived but the drinks (ie. latte, cappucino) are a little hotter than lukewarm. Measured the milk temp at 140 degrees. I know the temp is pre-set and fixed, but is there a trick to getting a hotter drink? Milk is coming straight from the fridge--having to wait for it to be room temp would defeat a lot of the allure of this machine. thanks!
Ron S on Feb 3, 2014
Best Answer: Unfortunately any machine that auto froths like this DeLonghi Lattissima is not going to get the milk temperature quite as hot as you can with a manual frothing wand or a panarello, and a temperature of about 140 degrees is pretty normal. If you like hotter drinks make sure you preheat your cups, but if you are still not satisfied then you may need to microwave your finished beverage or move to a machine like the Nespreso Maestria with a steam wand.

I cannot tell from all of the specs if this machine also makes regular coffee?
A shopper on Jan 14, 2014
Best Answer: The machines that use the Nespresso capsules like this DeLonghi Lattissima EN520 will not make regular coffee, but will make a short coffee, or a lungo. This is only about 3.7 ounces per capsule, so for a larger drink you would need to use more than one capsule for better strength. Hope this helps clarify!

Nice machine for the priceReview by bfeldt
Super convenient, pods give good variety of coffee flavors, strengths, and volumes, and the automatic latte/cappuccino/milk frother gives surprisingly good foam. Cleanup is easy and fast. Maybe not the machine to choose if you want the experience of pulling your own espresso shots, but if you want high-quality, fast, convenient espresso and lattes, can't go wrong for the price. My first espresso machineReview by Jimmy
I have had this for about a month and a half now I believe. It's great! Very versatile. I've made everything from Chai teas to coffee drinks to hot chocolate. The foam is pretty good. I'd like it to be a little denser but it's still very tasty. I do find I have to fill the water resivoir about every other day. It cleans up very easily. I also have been using my own ground espresso with the Breville smart grinder. I have been refilling the old capsules for now but will be purchasing the refillable kind. Plus Nespresso had a special going on where you got $100 credit on any purchase over $150. So I am ordering the starter package of 200 capsules and mahogany display case and I'll just have to pay the difference like maybe $40. I've made cappuccinos for different friends and they all have loved them. :) I'm going to be ordering a semi automatic from SCG also. (Posted on 1/25/2013)
