The DeLonghi Magnifica ECAM 23210B is one of the most compact superautomatics we have ever seen, but don't let its small size fool you. The Magnifica ECAM 23210B contains many of the features found on much larger and more expensive machines, such as an intuitive interface, removable water tank, automatic three hour shut off and energy saving mode, a professional quality burr grinder and a cup warmer. We predict it will only be a matter of minutes between taking the DeLonghi Magnifica ECAM23210B out of the box and making your first cup of great tasting espresso.

Features and Functionality

  • Compact Size - The ECAM 23210B's sleek design allows for an easy fit in any size kitchen without sacrificing features found in some of the larger models.
  • Minimize The Mess - The ECAM 23210B automatically indicates when it's time to tidy up. Comes with a removable hopper and drip tray for easy cleaning.
  • Removable Water Tank - With a removable 1.7 liter see-through tank, it is easy to tell when you need to add more water or clean it out.
  • Energy Efficient - With an automatic three hour shut off as well as an energy saving mode, the ECAM 23210B is safe and eco friendly.
  • Professional Quality Burr Grinder - With a lower pitch conical burr grinder, the ECAM 23210B produces a more consistent espresso or coffee. Grind settings also allow you to customize the fineness of your grinds.
  • Some Like It Hot - There is no better way to keep your favorite drinks hot longer than preheating your cups on the included cup warmer.
  • Some Like It Hotter - Prefer tea or hot chocolate? The ECAM23210B's included hot water dispenser allows for an even larger variety in drink choices.
  • Keep It Clean - The cleaner the water, the better the coffee, and with an internal water filtration system, the ECAM 23210B ensures the freshest cup possible.
  • Don't Lose Any Flavor - The ECAM 23210B's 5.3 ounce coffee bean container keeps the beans fresh with an easy access flip lid.
  • Going Up And Down - Whether you prefer espresso, demitasse or 12 ounce cups, avoid the messy splash with an easy to adjust dispenser spout.
  • Compact - One of the smaller superautos on the market, the Magnifica ECAM 23210B is great for small kitchens or limited office counter space.
  • Simple Controls - Straightforward and easy-to-navigate controls.
  • Short Steam Wand - The steam wand's design is not very ergonomic and is a little shorter than we'd like, making frothing your milk difficult at times.
How Does it Compare?

The Magnifica ECAM 23210B is great in size, but offers no other upgrades versus other superautomatics.

If you were choosing between this and the Saeco Intelia Deluxe which do you prefer and why?

Saeco Intelia Deluxe Superautomatic Espresso Machine - Certified Refurbished
Saeco Intelia Deluxe Superautomatic Espresso Machine - Certified Refurbished
Best Answer: I'd definitely prefer the Intelia Deluxe! I prefer the physical buttons and screen to Delonghi's dial and icon controls. And if I remember correctly, the Intelia Deluxe has a larger dump box and water reservoir. Both have removable brew groups and front-loading water tanks.

Grind levels are 1-7. Which is the fine grind, 1 or 7? What is recommended for espresso beans?
EspressoLover on Jul 28, 2014
Best Answer: The finest grind on this DeLonghi Magnifica is a 1, and the best setting will depend on the beans you use. I would suggest trying a grind of about 4 and see how you like the flavor. An oily bean may need a coarser setting like a 5 or higher, and a drier bean may need a 3. Generally finer grinds result in stronger flavor with a dry, matte finish bean, and will also be necessary to use as the burrs wear with age. If the machine is new, a middle range setting would be best and a setting of 1 should not be necessary unless your burrs are very old/worn. Hope this helps!

So the maximum cup size is a 6oz pour. If I press the 2 cup button does that mean I can get a 12oz cup of coffee with this machine?
Scott M on Dec 26, 2012
Best Answer: I like my coffee strong, so I do the maximum beans and max single cup twice for the larger amount (approx 12 oz total)
If you do the two cup at once it is weaker as it is more water but the same amt of coffee is ground. I only tried that once, and it was not strong enough for me.
If you like it stronger and want more volume then you have to do single cup twice. It is very fast and easy to do it twice.
It makes wonderful coffee. European style, strong with "crema" on top.
If you want espresso style it does that very well also, just set for less water.

will it takes already ground coffee, or it only takes bean?
A shopper on Apr 10, 2012
Best Answer: Takes whole bean in a large holder, grinds the beans and delivers a beautiful espresso type beverage. It also will take pre ground coffee manually put into a separate receptacle by the user. I use this for decaf beverages mainly, but it will take any preground coffee (finely ground is best)

I know this might sound crazy but I order an 8 shot Americano every morning and I am looking to save money by buying my own machine. If I wanted to pull 8 uninterrupted shots - would this Delonghi Magnifica continue to keep the water evenly hot during this or would it require wait time between them? Thank you in advance!
Francisco on Aug 3, 2012
Best Answer: Any superautomatic will have a fairly quick heat up and be able to pull a number of shots without wait time between them. The downside is that you will need to press the button to brew more than once, as the machine cannot pull 8 shots unattended by pressing the button just once. In a showroom test on our Magnifica ECAM 23210B, I found the temp of the shots was consistent over 8 brews, and there was not any additional wait time.

What am I supposed to do if a spoon shows up?
A shopper on Nov 7, 2015
Best Answer: The spoon means that you've selected the pre-ground or bypass doser option. This would be used for pre-ground coffee. To change it, switch the strength adjustment so that it has a bean selected, the size/diameter of the bean will indicate the strength that has been chosen.

What is the water temp at the brew head? I'm at 4500 ft, so I'll loose 2Deg per 1K ft.
Dave H on Feb 26, 2015
Best Answer: I don't know, but what I can say is that I am very happy with the machine so far. It took a week or so to begin to produce great coffee and lattes, but it has been consistent since then. Temperature has not been a problem. I don't live in altitude, though. The only thing that I would note is that I prefer steaming milk and producing froth without the special device that it brings. The device produces too much foam and not as thick as I like. But it is just a question of taking the device out (which only takes a second) and steaming the milk with the also removable piece that one finds inside. Sorry that I could not provide the answer that you were looking for, but hope that it could not hurt knowing these impressions.

Is there a place to store the spoon included for ground coffee?
DeLonghiLVR on Feb 6, 2015
Best Answer: No, it does not have a special storage location on the machine for your scoop. Sorry!

Hello, we have one of these at work and I've noticed that the tamping sound doesn't happen anymore and the espresso comes out thin. I've tried playing with different grind settings but it still seems to tamp rather sporadically. Seems to have a tamping mind of its own. Any tips on this? Thanks.
Jason B on Oct 9, 2014
Best Answer: It sounds like there could be an issue with the infuser of your Magnifica 23210B or the gear itself cycling in your machine. We would need to take a look at the machine to diagnosis it and would not be able to determine exactly what is going on without seeing the machine in our service center, unfortunately. If you'd like us to set up a repair order, give us a call at 866-372-4734. If you aren't in the Northwest and you'd prefer to see if DeLonghi has a closer service center for repairs, they can be reached at 800-865-6330.

I have the Delonghi Magnica ESAM3300 and love it but it is really loud. Is the ECAM 23210b model any quieter?
A shopper on Aug 8, 2013
Best Answer: Yes, actually! The noise of the grinder is quite quieter in this Magnifica ECAM 23210B than it was in the 3300. Keep in mind, though, that no grinder is noise free, unfortunately!

Excellent UnitReview by Dan Clements
This unit produces really good coffee, and we have had no issues with non-functioning parts. Couple of things:

1) I found instructions on how to reset water hardness a bit confusing (our water is very soft). Called deLonghi tech support, and they have an incredible app that showed me what I was doing wrong.

2) Frother takes a bit of getting used to. It is a bit awkward, but we have figured this out.

3) The sensor that lets you know when the used coffee bin needs emptying is quite sensitive, and we need to empty every 5 days ir so. The bin is perhaps a quarter full.

Very pleased with purchase: works great for us! (Posted on 9/28/2017)

A $1000 piece of junk-Deloghi is a disasterReview by Sam
We've owned several machines and this wasn't the first fully auto machine purchased. Right out of the box we had issues specially with the grinder and lukewarm espresso. Did all the things we know to do like pre-warning, waited 30 minutes for it to warm up and had the right beans,

Called over to customer service and first they say the beans are too oily. We already know we can't use them and had to repeat the same thing about a dozen times. So finally we just requested to speak with someone more reasonable to deal with. We get a call from the head of the department named a woman named Robin.

She wants us to ship it to NJ, pay for the shipping and have her technicians examine the maker. She says the same thing about the oily beans. I explained to her about 4 times we know about the beans, have the same one's in a Jura and there are no issues. The Delonghi keeps jamming and the espresso is coming out at 127 degrees. If she wants Delonghi can pay for the shipping but we aren't. She refuses and continues to say there isn't anything wrong with the machine. Let me tell you she and the other customer service people were about as useless and rude as can be. Like they are doing us a favor by talking to us. They talk down to you like you're the enemy.

With this kind of customer experience we are returning the machine and will never buy anything from them again. (Posted on 4/10/2016)
