does thermometer need to go to bottom of pitcher?
virginia m on Feb 20, 2015
Best Answer: No, the thermometer does not need to go all the way to the bottom of the pitcher, and you wouldn't want it necessarily touching the bottom so that you don't get a false reading from the metal absorbing more heat. It's best to make sure that the thermometer is close to the bottom, but not quite touching, but so long as it's in the middle or so of the milk, then you will be reading an accurate temperature. If it's towards the top, the foam or exposure to air as the milk is circulating could also skew the readout.

I like it because it's bigger than the el cheapos I've bought from the super market. I can clearly read the numbers. I have a built in thermometer on my multi-meter, and I checked the accuracy when it arrived. Dead on! I'll continue to check on occasion, just to be safe. (Posted on 7/30/2013)

I tried the longer thermometers first and can't understand where they would be used short of frothing for a family of six. This size works well even in the smallest frothing cup.

Pros:
Easy To Use, Easy To Clean, Commercial Grade

This commercial grade thermometer and clip has a HUGE dial. This is great for my far sighted eyes. It appears to be accurate enough for steaming milk, but the clip isn't firm and can slide around the rim of the frothing pitcher. Even so, I would buy this again.

Pros:
Easy To Use, Commercial Grade, Easy To Clean

Cons:
Clips a little loose (Posted on 4/26/2010)
