When this pitcher first came out, it had a different handle; somewhat elliptical in shape. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Espro modified the handle in this latest incarnation. I have another pitcher that has a handle shaped much like the new Espro design, and experience has taught me that it's a good ergonomic design. To my mind, the original seemed like it might be cramped for larger hands, and would also place the back side of fingers too close to hot steel. For those reasons, I didn't purchase the original pitcher. That said, when I removed my pitcher from the box and held it for the first time, I was disappointed with the feel in my hand. Not because of the shape, which is fine, but rather because the inside edges had not been sufficiently deburred. No, it wasn't going to cut my fingers, but the edges were somewhat sharp and felt rough against even my calloused fingers. This was easily remedied by using some 400 and 600 grit sandpaper. Still, that should not be the job of the customer to complete. Espro needs to address this quality issue in their manufacturing process. I also felt they scrimped by using a fairly thin gauge steel for the handle. The handle on my other less expensive frothing pitcher is more than twice as thick, and feels noticeably better in hand.
This current pitcher is I'm sure an improvement over the original, but there still remains room for further product improvement. With a thicker properly deburred and polished handle, it gets 5 stars in quality. (Posted on 5/5/2014)
