Product Description

This heavy gauge, stainless steel has a brushed finish and its rubber base easily removes for cleaning. The wider mouth of the box makes it easy to knock out your grounds without messy splatter. The knock out rod can also be removed (with a little bit of muscle or a pair of pliers) for cleaning.

Pros
  • Large Capacity - This knock box will not only clean up your messes but makes room for you to make those extra espresso shots you may need to knock out on those highly caffeinated days.
  • Rubber Foot - Sitting on top of a rubber foot, this knock box guarantees it'll stay put as you knock it around to empty out your dried pucks.
Cons
  • No Replacements - Unfortunately like many other knock boxes, this one does not come with a replacement rubber bar, so we ask you to be CREATIVE!

Visually, this Knockbox looks exactly like the one I got from Starbucks years ago sans a "Starbucks Coffee" label. Anyone know if they are otherwise exactly the same or not? Separate question- Does the Modern Stainless Steel Knock Box Replacement Bar that is sold here at Seattle Coffe Gear fit into this Knockbox? Would be great if it did as you could then use that as a replacement part when the rubber gets all worn out from normal use!
alvineng on Jul 6, 2013
Best Answer: This looks to be the same unit from Starbucks. Mine is at least 15 years old and the rubber long ago wore off. I replaced it with a piece of clear rubber hose from the hardware store. Bring the bar with you and you can find a size that fits. I was even able to find rubber grommets for the ends to hold the bar in place when dumping. They do wear out but are cheap enough to buy a handful for replacement.

Is this knock box one of the ones that could leak water with a soupy puck that a Saeco Aroma normally produces?

Thanks,

Danny
Danny on Sep 28, 2014
Best Answer: Unfortunately yes, there may be a small amount of water leakage on this Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Knock Box if you frequently leave very wet pucks in it for long amounts of time. You would have the least amount of leaking from one of the Rattleware or Breville options at the link below:

Can you get a replacement on the rubber piece that you actually knock onto?
Julieanne C on Mar 24, 2012
Best Answer: Unfortunately, we don't carry a replacement bar for these knock boxes. However, you can purchase rubber tubing from Home Depot to replace the rubber piece. If you buy a large length of it, you can cut it and replace the rubber as needed.

Does anybody know where I can get a new end-knob?

Thanks for the advice about the rubber tubing and the grommets, I'll use it.
A shopper on May 11, 2013
Best Answer: Funny, I bought this knock-box in Jan 2012 and have loved it for over a year now, but I never even knew the end-knobs came off. I've always just washed it with them in place.

I would assume you could contact the maker of the box to request a new knob or you could take the threaded bar to Lowes and find out what type of threads are used and then search for an interesting finial with the same threads. It wouldn't match but it would be unique.

Good luck.

This is a great addition to your espresso setup. I make three pucks every morning with an occasional afternoon shot. This knock box keeps me from running to the garbage bin and helps speed up the process. It also segregates the used coffee grounds, so you can use them for other purposes.

Pros:
Easy To Use, Saves steps and time, Commercial Grade, Easy To Clean

Cons:
Could be a bit deeper (Posted on 4/15/2011)

Great product, great size easy to clean. On the downside the bottom is stamped on and mine fell off after a few months of use. I repaired it by sweating it on like copper pipe and now it is even water proof so all is good.

Pros:
Easy To Clean, Easy To Use

Well made with adequate size/capacity to hold about a dozen or more pucks before discard. Cleans up easily. Shape helps to contain most "splatter" when bumping out a puck.

Not much to say about this. Does a good enough job for a decent price. The removable insert makes cleanup a bit nicer. If your kitchen is a bit tighter in space, this might take up too much counter space.

Pros:
Removable insert, Easy To Clean

Cons:
Large footprint (Posted on 4/21/2010)
