illy Caffe Decaf offers the same flavor and aroma as medium roast, with a caffeine content of under 0.05 percent, half the legal requirement for decaffeinated coffee. It has aromatic notes of caramel and chocolate with a light flowery top note.

These decaf whole beans are imported from Italy and come in a nitrogen flushed, resealable can to preserve the fresh flavor and aroma of the distinctive illy blend.

How Does it Compare?

illy Caffe Decaf has all of the flavor of illy's medium roast espresso without the caffeine.

how many mg of caffeine is in this product?
A shopper on Apr 20, 2014
Best Answer: The back of the can says: Caffeine content not higher than .05% I can add that this is the best decaf for flavor that I have found. I drink espresso based coffee all day long and I alternate between this and a caffeinated bean, because I have very low levels of Vitamin D. When my doctor put me on supplements, I found out that caffeine not only makes your bones leach vitamin D, but it prevents the absorption of the supplements if taken within a half hour of each other. I also read that it takes over 300mg of caffeine a day to affect your bones, so I started alternating this decaf. I enjoy my cup of illy decaf as much as the caffeinated ones and if I didn't have other coffee drinkers in the house I would probably only have this decaf around. I have been buying it from SeattleCG for a few years now. They have the best price for illy decaf that I have found.

Do you use the Swiss water process or any chemical to decafeinate the silly coffee?
A shopper on Jul 28, 2017
Best Answer: Illy uses a really neat process with pressurized CO2 to decaffeinate their coffee. It's only chemical is naturally occurring (CO2) and it preserves more of the delicate flavor compounds than other decaf methods.

is this swiss water process?
A shopper on Apr 3, 2017
Best Answer: Nope! Illy uses liquid carbon dioxide (also referred to as a supercritical fluid extraction) to separate caffeine from the beans! It's interesting, and also tends to be slightly more expensive than the Swiss water process.

Excellent decaf coffeeReview by Beatchica
I have tried, Lavazza Dek, Lavazza Espresso Decaffeinato and time after time I keep coming back to illy Caffe Decaf.

Here is why:
- Low caffeine content without sacrificing flavor
- Shots are very creamy, goes great with milk or as a stand alone shot
- The taste rich, full and smooth with nice nutty and chocolate overtones

Other decaf that I have tries tends to lack the full, rich, smooth, flavor of illy.
