Product Description

Lavazza Dek Decaf Espresso Whole Bean coffee offers a well-balanced blend from Brazil and Asia. Full-bodied, long-lasting flavor for those who want to avoid caffeine without giving up delicious Italian coffee.

Lavazza uses a modern process of decaffeination with carbon dioxide that does not diminish the flavor and aroma of the roasted coffee beans, a potential downfall of the Swiss water process. The use of carbon dioxide and pure water also avoids the use of potentially harmful substances in the decaffeination process.

What to expect from Lavazza's Dek Decaf? A medium-bodied, full flavored espresso roast with no bitter aftertaste. Amaze your friends and family, they won't believe it is decaffeinated. Try a taste test and see! Dek Decaf beans also blend well with your favorite roast to create a custom 50/50 half decaf option.

  • 1.1 pounds Premium Whole Bean Espresso Roast
  • Decaffeinated
  • Imported from Italy

What is the efficiency of the caffeine removal process and what is the residual caffeine concentration? Thanks
Ken W on Jul 26, 2014
Best Answer: I'm not a Chemist, so I cannot answer the specifics of your question...but my internals are extremely sensitive to caffeine, and Lavazza Dek is one of only two decaf whole bean brands I've tried that I can enjoy, for both their pleasant taste and lack of unpleasant side effects.

Can this be used in a SuperAutomatic, a Saeco Syntia to be exact??

Best Answer: Absolutely! The Dek blend is a medium roast, and would be perfect for a superautomatic, and would do well in the Saeco Syntia.

Even though this is an espresso roast it makes terrific coffee in my Moccamaster drip machine. I usually buy 3 bags at a time which makes it even more of a bargain. Doesn't have that aftertaste you get from other decafs. (Posted on 1/1/2015)

No caffeine for me, thanks. I like the Lavazza Dek. It's a tasty decaf.
I also like the Kirkland (CostCo brand) Decaf, at considerably less cost. The two work equally well in my full automatic DeLonghi Espresso machine.

I LOVE coffee, but my blood pressure meds let me know I have to limit my caffeine intake...with Dek I enjoy those "extra" cups without blowing a gasket. I often serve it to "regular" people who gush about the delicious coffee...I just neglect to tell them it's unleaded. Our little secret, now. ;)

Having been a Velton's devotee for some time, I made a one-time switch to Lavazza Dek, and was delighted with the flavour from a decaf blend. I just may stick to Lavazza for my decaf.

I use Dek in a super automatic machine. I love the sound of whole beans being ground....fresh. I'd call it a medium roast coffee blend, without any particular flavor 'notes' or characteristics. It makes a nice espresso, or add a little milk foam for a macchiato. For those whose body no longer tolerates caffeine, it's a good choice.

Great Taste

This is definatly the best decaf I have tasted! It was voted a very close second to the "Lavazza Gold Selection Espresso" in our office taste test.
4 stars instead of 5 if comparing to the Gold - yet the BEST decaf out there in my opinion.

Great Taste

Recently I switched to decaf and this is the best decaf espresso I have ever had. A friend didn't believe me when I told her it was decaf! Very smooth and full bodied with no aftertaste. I've tried other brands, but nothing compares to Lavazza. I also like that there are no chemicals used in the process. Highly recommend!

It wasn't until I started traveling that I learned what a good cup of coffee was. Reproducing that at home wasn't easy. It took good coffee, like Lavazza DEK, a good machine (I use a Seaco Incanto Deluxe), and the correct coffee:water ratio. For me is 9-10gms coffee to 1 oz water. A dopio in a Budum 3oz glass makes my day. DEK beans 50:50 with Gold Selection is my daytime blend. 100% DEK ground after 2:00pm. Life is good with Lavazza.

Pros:
Great Taste
