Product Description

Lavazza Gran Espresso blend is made with Arabica beans from Central and South America, combined with African and Indonesian Robustas. Consistent cup after cup, Lavazza Gran Espresso is strong... but not to be confused with dark and oily, this is light and flavorful.

Many tasters have commented on the lack of bitter aftertaste and the easy crema production. It is perfect for creating milk-based drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, or cafe macchiatos. This is a clear winner from Lavazza for taste, versatility and consistent results even when brewed from different espresso machines.

  • 2.2 pound Premium Whole Bean Espresso Roast
  • Imported from Italy
How Does it Compare? Lavazza Gran Espresso offers a strong, bold creamy body that stands up well in milk-based espresso drinks.

We just bought a superautomatic espresso maker which means we should avoid oily beans. How would you describe this coffee? Is it oily? Any suggestions and tips are welcome. Thanks. :)
A shopper on May 7, 2012
Best Answer: All of the Lavazza roasts are acceptable for superautomatics in terms of oiliness. Lavazza Grand is a medium roast with deep flavor — probably the strongest of the Lavazza options.

How would this coffee do in a Technivorm drip coffee maker (& paper or gold filter)? I like half & half in my coffee...
A shopper on Nov 2, 2014
Best Answer: Some times we mix different beans to fit the coffee flavor to our taste too, but we never did it to Lavazza. We like it the way it is :)
We use Super Automatic Machine but for parties we still will grinding the beans and use a drip coffee maker. You may have to experiment about the size of the grinding to get the best flavor.
We are fans of the espresso and in my opinion this is the best way to use this particular beans.

hi the composition of miscela? in terms of % of arabica and robusta?
A shopper on Jul 11, 2014
Best Answer: I have no idea. It makes good coffee and the beans do not clog my burr grinder with excess oil.

How do you think this would do in say a Sowden Softbrew?
Beth H. on Jun 4, 2014
Best Answer: It's a great tasting coffee. I use it in my Saeco Vienna automatic, no idea how it would do in other machines.

If you like strong, fragrant espresso with thick crema, you can't do much better. Also important, it's not oily which is a killer for burr grinders. Terrific value. (Posted on 12/5/2014)

This is a lighter roast that produces good crema with a (to me) light and slightly nutty flavor. I generally prefer a darker roast, but the dark, oily roasts clog up my Rancilio Rocky grinder, and these beans don't clog much at all.

Over-all I'm very satisfied with this coffee and would recommend it to anyone who has a Rocky grinder and to anyone who doesn't like a Starbucks-style dark roast. (Posted on 11/19/2014)

This coffee is bold, yet smooth. It produces a wonderful crema. After trying many different coffees this one clearly tops them all. The flavor reminds me of a cafe In Fiorenza!

My husband roasts his own beans and he even loved the flavor of this coffee. It lives up to its reputation! Strong enough for lattes so its flavor comes through. Highly recommended. (Posted on 3/21/2014)

I've tried many kinds of coffee beans over the years in our espresso machine and none even come close to Lavazza Grand Espresso beans. Great flavor without the burnt after taste of some brands. (Posted on 9/9/2012)

The only coffee that can give the Grand Espresso a run for the money is Velton's Bonsai. I've blended the two 50/50 with great results, too. The Grand is very satisfying, with a nice complex aroma and flavor profile, with a good hit of chocolate. I've found this coffee to be the easiest to dial in, and most reliable for consistently awesome espresso.

Pros:
Nice chocolate overtones, Complex aroma flavor, Nice blended with Bonsai, Wide brewing sweet-spot

Cons:

We primarily drink latte's from our Jura ENA4 machine. This coffee is strong enough to punch through the milk without being too bitter. If you own a superautomatic machine, this coffee should work great for you.

I use it with a Rancilio machine and grinder. Grinds consistently and pulls nice. Good flavor, not bitter. Very good for milk based drinks. The wife even likes it and she was hooked on a local grinder.[...] the price is fair. [...].I'm giving it 4 stars, not because its lacking but I assume there is always something better that I have not found yet...
