Lavazza Super Crema whole bean espresso roast combines washed and unwashed Arabica and washed Robusta coffee beans that originate from Brazil, Central America, and Indonesia. Super Crema is a perennial favorite with a light-to-medium body, delicious hazelnut aromas, and sweet, fruity notes with just a touch of smokiness.

Lavazza Super Crema can transport your taste buds to a plaza in Florence, Italy where you sip an espresso at a chic sidewalk cafe. Pleasant aroma, smooth not bitter, fantastic taste...everything a coffee should be combined into one steaming cup.

  • 2.2 pounds Premium Whole Bean Espresso Roast
  • Imported from Italy
How Does it Compare?

Lavazza Super Crema Espresso is a velvety blend with hazelnut aromas and a fruity sweetness. Try the Lavazza Gran Aroma Bar for a comparable blend in the home line.

Great tasting coffee not to oily for super automatic.

lived up to scg recommendations
H M on Mar 13, 2012
The Lavazza super crema beans are a drier bean than most and that is an advantage with a home fully automatic espresso machine. If I really had to I probably could manage to clean the grinders but I hope I never have to. So far I have worn out a couple espresso machines and have never had a grinder problem with these beans. AND, I really like the espressos I make with these beans.
Caroroll R on Apr 6, 2012
at 2.5 lbs how could the beans not go stale?
A shopper on Feb 5, 2012
Best Answer: Lavazza gives all of their beans a preservative nitrogen flush that keeps them fresh. In addition, there are a variety of products that can prolong the life of the beans.

I would recommend either an Airscape canister (http://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/Airscape-Coffee-Bean-Canister-p/scg30511.htm) or Coffee Bean Vac (http://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/Coffee-Bean-Vac-p/scg10005-3.htm). If you purchase the Bean Vac, please keep in mind that its capacity is just over 1 pound.

What would be the equivalent in USA of lavazza "caffe espresso"label found in Australia ( a medium roast blend)?
Alain T on Dec 21, 2014
Best Answer: Unfortunately, we haven't carried that blend, so I can't say. I would recommend trying a couple blends, then going from there. Some of our most popular blends in Lavazza are Super Crema, Qualita Rossa, and Crema e Aroma, or for a bolder option, Grand. Part of the fun of coffee is being able to experiment and try new things to figure out what you like the best! :-)

Hi, I am debating in getting either:

- Lavazza Grand Espresso - Whole Bean
o
- Lavazza Super Crema Espresso - Whole Bean

I like my coffee - very Dark / bonded and crema, please advice which one is the best for my taste (or which one is strongest and without oily).

Beside the taste, would it harm if I mix the 1 pound of StarBuck Dark roasted (that remaining) with 2 lb of Lavazza (that I gonna buy)?

Thank.
Tim K on Apr 9, 2014
Best Answer: If you prefer a darker roast, I would suggest the Lavazza Grand Espresso. It is a medium roast and offers a bold, dark taste without the oils. I would stay away from the dark Starbucks beans as best you can just to avoid the risk of clogging your grinder. If your machine has a bypass doser, I would suggest grinding the left over Starbucks and brewing with the bypass doser.

I have tried several of the Lavazza line and know it's recommended for super autos like Jura C5. What other in Lavazza or other lines are a safe bet and not too oily to use in the Jura C5?
Eric N on Dec 11, 2013
Best Answer: You can actually safely use any of the Lavazza beans we offer in the superautos like the Jura C5, as they all have a nice matte finish that is not oily. For a bold flavor, I'd recommend the Lavazza Crema e Aroma, and for something a bit more mild, check out the Lavazza Gran Aroma Bar.

Even if Lavazza has a long shelf life, it will deteriorate with time. How old are the beans that you provide? (Roast date is stamped on the bag). I would not want beans more than a month old.
Peter
A shopper on Jun 1, 2014
Best Answer: The Lavazza beans are roasted and packaged with a nitrogen flush, and so they do have a very long shelf life, but because they ship from Italy, unfortunately their roast date will never be within one month (for example, our current bags of Super Crema were roasted about 6 months ago but will stay fresh unopened another year!). An article detailing the nitrogen flush process can be found at the link below:

Do the coffee beans have a sugary coating or flavoring added to it? The manufacturer of my coffee machine states not to use flavored coffee beans in the machine. Thanks
A shopper on Apr 22, 2014
Best Answer: No, there is not any coating or flavoring that is sprayed onto the Lavazza Super Crema beans.

How long can Lavazza beans be kept in original packaging without losing it's aroma or taste?
Loren G on Feb 12, 2014
Best Answer: As long as the bag is sealed, this Lavazza Super Crema has a very long shelf life- sometimes a year in the future. Once opened though, it is best to store the beans in a well sealed canister out of light exposure for best flavor.

Sam V on Jan 21, 2014

When you guys are expecting to have the Lavazza Super Crema (whole bean) back in stock?
Hiram C on Jan 16, 2013
Best Answer: Unfortunately Super Crema is our most popular and we frequently sell out, so we're looking for a new supplier. I'd suggest trying the new blends from Lavazza we're offering in those large bags- like the Lavazza Gran Crema or Crema e Aroma.

I use the Breville BES870xl, just purchased it Jan 2015 and love my machine. I used the Illy medium roast espresso beans when I first got the machine. Currently am using the Lavazza Super Crema beans (grind setting on 5/grind amount 3 w/the single walled double shot filters) and am absolutely hooked on them. I use them for lattes and long blacks for my husband. They really do produce gorgeous crema and the taste is strong but very smooth with hints of hazelnut. You won't be disappointed. Based on the reviews and product description, i eagerly purchased Lavazza Super Crema. In my opinion it is bitter and there's no hint of hazelnut flavors etc... Beans are over roasted which attribute to burnt taste. This review is based on the bag i purchased. Perhaps it was a one off scenario. Too bad there aren't samplers as to not commit to a 2 pound bag. This is the ideal coffee roast (and flavor) for the super automatic machine I bought from Seattle Coffee Gear. It has a nice strong and smooth taste without being bitter. Plus for the automatic machines, the beans are not oily. Gail recommended them to me and I am happy with them indeed.... (Posted on 11/19/2014)

This is the best pre-packaged coffee I've ever tasted. Better than Starbucks or anything you'll find at non-specialty grocery stores. That said, it does not surpass quality coffee from decent local roasters. If you're already buying from Seattle Coffee Gear, you're better off purchasing some of Seattle's local coffees. I absolutely LOVE this Lavazza coffee. I watched the video of the taste test between all the various Lavazza coffees and although Super Crema didn't seem to be anyone's #1 choice, the comments made about it made me realize that this is probably the right choice for me and boy was I right. Every morning now when I take my first sip I actually cry out "G'damn that's good!"

I will try other types but I think I found my winner. :) (Posted on 11/13/2014)

Great Value, Great CoffeeReview by Jack F

I will start by saying that I am a big fan of smaller-batch, local roast coffees. However, I'm on a budget and I can't afford to buy them all of the time. For a while now, my "baseline" espresso coffee has been Lavazza's Super Crema and I LOVE it! Buying 3 bags at a time from SCG -- which gave me a discount per bag as well as free shipping -- made this a no-brainer strategy for balancing quality and cost. Because of the special packaging that Lavazza does, the shelf life (before opening the bag) is good enough for this to last me a bit of time. Plus, whenever I finish a bag, I'll treat myself to a pricier bag (or two) of local roasted coffees, so I feel like I have the right balance -- economizing with the Lavazza allows me to indulge in other ways. And, don't get me wrong, the Lavazza is no slouch taste-wise -- it is a bit less "complex" than many artisan roasts, but, at the same time, it is reliable and unassuming. Big thumbs up! Super Crema Espresso lives up to it's name with lots of velvety crema and a full body espresso that is great as an espresso coffee to a cappuccino to an Americano. All equally rich, smooth and completely satisfying.

I do not find this coffee to be oily in any way compared to SCG's other coffees. (Posted on 1/25/2014)

I tried a different Lavazza roast that my sister and her family are obsessed with and it was really good! I decided to look through Lavazza on my own and found this roast. It sounded good for what I was looking for, whole beans for my Breville espresso machine at home. I gave it four stars out of five only because it didn't surpass my favorite espresso beans that we use at the coffee stand I work at.
I am from WA state and I like to think I'm a coffee expert, coffee has always been a big thing in my family and it's a hobby of mine to try new coffee shops! My personal favorite is an iced coconut mocha, try it sometime! :) (Posted on 4/14/2013)

I (unfortunately) bought 3 2lb. bags on these reviews alone, without a test. To be fair, I've only opened one of the bags so perhaps I got a bad one but I found the beans to be both stale and over-roasted/burned: a terrible combination. I must be missing something. (Posted on 12/19/2012)

This may be anathema to purists, but I wanted to test its super-hyped smoothness and ground it coarse & brewed it in my French press. There isn't much that hasn't already been said in previous reviews. We've tried almost all of the Lavazza coffee blends. So far, this is our favorite.
My nose and palate aren't sophisticated enough to get hints of this and notes of that. All I know is that it tastes like REALLY GREAT COFFEE.

I'm somewhat new to espresso and wanted to find something better than the wholesale store coffee. After buying my first real espresso machine from SCG (Saeco Talea Giro Plus V2) I sought a better coffee. I believe I've found it in Lavazza's Super Crema. The earthy flavor of this coffee sits very well with my family. I initially described it as smelling like peanut butter (peanuts grow in the ground, so earthy fits). The aroma is pleasant to me. I'm now trying out another brand of espresso, with a backup bag of Lavazza in the cupboard ready when I need it and I'm not impressed with this new brand. Did not buy from SCG, but had high ratings.

These beans are nice for a smooth Espresso. They do not work well in any Espresso drinks. The brewed Espresso, although very smooth, will go under in flavored drink. This is my everyday bean and it lives up to it's name. The crema is wonderful every time I draw a shot. My Rancilio Rocky grinder never has any oil residue or gunk build up. The taste is what I would call mild, not burnt or over roasted. It has the regular amount of espresso jolt to it though. I have only tried a few other blends, but I keep coming back to this one! I also like the DEK for a decaff coffee. Lavaza is a good all around bean choice. Life is too short to drink bad coffee!
