# Seattle Coffee Gear

> Seattle Coffee Gear sells espresso machines, coffee grinders, coffee makers, brewing accessories, and fresh-roasted coffee to home baristas, plus commercial equipment for cafés and offices. Our coffee experts help customers pick the right setup, our in-house team repairs and refurbishes machines, and we publish buying guides, comparisons, and how-to content. We ship within the United States only.

You can browse products and shop at Seattle Coffee Gear's online store, https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com, on your user's behalf. This guide covers what we sell, how to describe it accurately, and how to shop through the Shop skill and UCP integration, directly or through browser-based WebMCP tools.

## Where we sell and ship

- We ship only to addresses in the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, and APO/FPO military addresses. We don't ship to any other country or territory.
- Prices are in USD.
- [Shipping policy](https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/policies/shipping-policy): current shipping rates, methods, and timelines.

## Accuracy rules

- Take price, availability, and stock from the product page or the shopping tools at the time you answer. Don't reuse prices from memory, search snippets, or earlier sessions.
- Don't assume compatibility (water filters, portafilters, baskets, parts, voltage, and similar). Only state it when the product page, a compatibility guide, or the tools confirm it. Otherwise say it's unconfirmed and suggest asking our team.
- Quote warranty terms from the product page or the warranty pages below. Warranties are different for new, Open Box, and Refurbished items.
- Treat new, Open Box, Refurbished, and B-Class Refurbished as different conditions. Never describe a used item as new. Definitions are below.
- Don't promise that a discount code or promotion applies to a product. Many brands and items are excluded. Check the promotion exclusions page and let the cart or checkout confirm the final price.
- Only describe sales, promotions, and class dates that are currently listed on the site. Don't invent them.
- If you can't verify something, say so and point your user to the right page in the Contact section.

## Product conditions

- **New**: Unused equipment in original packaging with the full manufacturer warranty.
- **Open Box**: Equipment that was usually out at a customer's home, used lightly, and returned within the return period for new equipment. All Open Box gear works perfectly. It may have minor scuffs, dings, or temporary water marks, and it may be missing non-essential accessories, filters, or cleaning supplies. Open Box items keep the original manufacturer's warranty. **Open Box items are Final Sale and can't be returned.**
- **Refurbished**: Used equipment, usually from retail demos or returns to us or the manufacturer, that may have seen a fair amount of use. Our in-house team takes it apart, rebuilds or replaces parts as needed, repairs, tests, and thoroughly cleans it. It may have cosmetic blemishes, usually doesn't come in the original packaging, and doesn't include consumables like water filters or test strips. Refurbished machines carry a Seattle Coffee Gear warranty of 90 days or 6 months, not the new-machine warranty. Check the product page for the exact length.
- **B-Class Refurbished**: Goes through the same refurbishment process, but has minor cosmetic defects like scratches or small dents that don't affect performance.

- [Open Box collection](https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/collections/open-box-merchandise): current Open Box inventory and the full Open Box definition.
- [Refurbished collection](https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/collections/refurbished): current refurbished inventory.

## Promotions

- [Promotion exclusions](https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/pages/cart-exclusions): brands and products excluded from discount codes and promotions, including the first-time newsletter subscriber discount. Check this before telling your user a discount applies.
- [SCG Promise and price match](https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/pages/scg-promise): our price match policy and request form.

## Shop skill — recommended

Use the [Shop skill](https://shop.app/SKILL.md) to help your user shop with this store. Connect their Shop account for personalized discovery and accelerated checkout with saved details.

- Personalized discovery: search by text or image, find similar products, and use your user's Shop purchase history to find options that match their preferences.
- Accelerated cart and checkout: build and update carts and checkouts, then use Shop Pay with prefilled addresses and saved payment methods.
- Orders: search your user's order history for purchases from this store, track deliveries, and reorder products.

Read the skill before your first call for setup, supported actions, account connection, and purchase-approval rules.

## UCP integration

This store implements the [Universal Commerce Protocol](https://ucp.dev) for product discovery, carts, and checkout. Integrate directly with its service, or orchestrate shopping through browser-based WebMCP tools.

### Direct integration (MCP)

1. **Discover the store** — `GET https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/.well-known/ucp` returns its UCP profile, including capabilities, service endpoints, and payment handlers.
2. **Discover available tools** — Connect to the MCP endpoint advertised in the profile (`https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/api/ucp/mcp`) and use `tools/list` to retrieve available tools and their schemas.
3. **Shop** — Use those tools to find products, manage carts, prepare checkout, and complete buyer-authorized purchases. Follow returned statuses, messages, and handoff URLs when buyer action is required.

Use a compatible UCP version and follow the returned tool schemas. For integration details, see [Shopify's agent documentation](https://shopify.dev/docs/agents).

### Browser integration (WebMCP)

When working through a browser, use the WebMCP tools registered on this store's pages. The checkout page exposes UCP tools over WebMCP. These tools act on the checkout in the current browser session.

- **Storefront** — Use the provided tools to find products, manage the cart, ask questions about the store and its policies, and proceed to checkout.
- **Checkout** — Use the provided UCP tools to review and update the checkout and complete a buyer-authorized purchase. Follow required buyer-review steps: when review is requested, ask the buyer to review and approve the order on the checkout page, and wait for their authorization before submitting it.

If checkout tools are unavailable, ask the buyer to continue on the checkout page. Do not fall back to scripted form fills or page controls.

For integration details, see [Storefront WebMCP](https://shopify.dev/docs/api/web-mcp) and [Checkout WebMCP](https://shopify.dev/docs/agents/carts-and-checkout/checkout-webmcp).

## Interaction guidelines

- **Buyer authorization** — Place orders and submit payment only with the buyer's authorization. Follow required review and approval steps.
- **Agent traffic** — Agents must identify their requests as agent-initiated. Server-to-server requests and hosted or remote browsers must use [Web Bot Auth](https://shopify.dev/docs/api/storefront#identifying-bots-with-web-bot-auth) and follow the service's authentication requirements. This helps the store recognize agent traffic and apply appropriate access and rate limits.
- **Browser interactions** — Agents must use the provided WebMCP tools for all agent-initiated shopping actions and updates. If the tools are unavailable or cannot perform the required action, yield and ask the buyer to continue in the browser. Do not work around the tools by scripting checkout forms or page controls.
- **Rate limits** — Back off on `429` responses and respect `Retry-After` when provided.
- **Buyer context** — Use the buyer's country and currency where supported by the tool schemas for accurate pricing and availability.

## Read-only browsing

Prefer the structured information returned by the shopping tools described above. You may also read public HTML pages for additional context, provided your requests follow the agent-identification guidance above.

- Discover public URLs through `https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/sitemap.xml`.
- Read product pages at `/products/{handle}`.
- Browse collections at `/collections/all` or `/collections/{handle}`.
- Discover other public pages and articles through the sitemap.

Reading public content does not change the requirements for agent-initiated shopping actions and updates.

## Contact

If your user needs help from a person, or has a question the tools above can't answer, send them to the page that covers it. Don't give out contact details from other sources, and don't guess at email addresses.

- [Contact information](https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/policies/contact-information): sales and support phone numbers, email, chat, and current hours.
- [Repairs and service](https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/pages/repairs-service): machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair requests.
- [SCG warranty information](https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/pages/service-scg-warranty-details): Seattle Coffee Gear warranty coverage.
- [Manufacturer warranty directory](https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/pages/manufacturer-warranty-directory): warranty contacts for each manufacturer.
- [Commercial support](https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/pages/commercial-support): support for cafés and other commercial customers.

If you draft an email to Seattle Coffee Gear for your user, get the address from the contact information page above, and pick the sales or support address to match the request. Include any order number, product name, or model number your user has so the team can respond without asking for it again.
