Description

Fruit and berry notes? Yes. Available year round? Yes. This single origin from Methodical Dur Feres is perfect for those who just can't do without a natural process coffee from Ethiopia. The Dur Feres coffee is selected from families and farms that have already sold their highest scoring lots (88+) but still have neglected specialty grade green coffee (80+) which is the bulk of their harvest. Through this community lot project farmers are able to sell their coffee to roasters looking for a consistent profile with organic certification, and we get to enjoy great coffee as a result! We taste blueberry, blackberry, and cherry. Brew anyway you like!

Recommended Brew Methods

A 2:1 water-to-coffee ratio for your espresso shot is recommended. Using a scale to dial in your shots makes the process faster and more accurate. Your espresso grind should be very fine and powdery. Shots should take 30-40 seconds to brew and be thick and syrupy. Don’t stress, adjustments are always needed to get your shots pulling just right!

We recommend a 16:1 water to coffee ratio for your dosing. Use a scale for best results! For pour over, use a medium-coarse grind size somewhere between drip and press levels. Start with a short pour to wet the grounds and “bloom” the coffee for 30 seconds, followed by two more pours, divided in half to reach the appropriate remaining ratio of water to coffee.

Start with a 16:1 water-to-coffee ratio for your dosing. You’ll want a medium grind size for drip brewing that’s finer than what you’d use for pourover. Make sure you give the filter basket a shake to evenly distribute the grounds in the filter for best results. Turn on your brewer and it’ll do the rest!
