Wife and I like "Italian Roast" coffee; now have a Chemex (whohoo!)... like your videos and thought I would ask you guys... what is a good coffee bean, you sell, in different price points that would "hit" that Italian Roast (yes, we had pre-ground before) coffee we like. We want to start grinding our own beans now. :-) And, no, we are not made of money. :-) Thanks in advance. Love your videos! Question...it's saying I have to ask question?

Best Answer: Scott,

Grinding beans adds a whole new dimension to the coffee making experience. I've found it to be incredibly rewarding over the years as I've experimented with hundreds of different blends, roasts, grind settings, etc.

The Back Pedal Brew from Middle Fork is an excellent coffee, and I'd enthusiastically recommend it. It is, however, lighter than what I would consider an Italian Roast to be.

One of my favorite coffees of all time is Middle Fork's Tough as Nails blend. It's a little darker, oilier, and smokier than a traditional Italian Roast, but it is free of most of the bitterness normally associated with dark roasts. Another good coffee to try would be Velton's Twilight.

So far our personal favorite for cappuccinos with a bit of vanilla coconut cream or straight away espresso shots...etc.
These fragrant aromatic beans are not oily, will grind up into a fine powdery consistency if you wish them to for a deeper richer flavor.
The beans are medium roasted and nonacidic nor bitter
Full of a rich creamy medium chocolatey type flavor.
. Deep sweet syrupy earthy tones.... an excellent varied comp!explexity ending smoothly on your palate...very yummy. (Posted on 7/15/2016)

Very good. Beans are not oily. Typical dark brown color that I would usually expect of a medium roast. Excellent aroma in the bag. Beans ground well.

Silky and smooth taste. Not bitter. Would be a good roast for any time of day. Caffeine content seems higher than "normal," at least higher than what I normally drink.

There are better roasts out there, I'm sure. But this one is very good. (Posted on 5/10/2014)

The aroma of the beans in the bags gave me the decision to buy the Back Pedal. Am not a coffee snob, but I know what I like, and too many coffee spots I think roast too long. I don't care for the strong, overly roasted blends. Do you sell in the south sound? Bartells, or QFC, Freddies would be good choices. :) (Posted on 1/30/2013)

This roast stands up well to milk drinks as well as being smooth enough to be consumed neat! This roast makes deciding between my old faithful bean and Middle Fork a real tough choice.
