How the Nuova Simonelli MicroBar Works

Compare the different versions:

  • Direct Connect: This version is what you will find in higher volume locations where you can connect a water source right to the machine
  • Pour Over This version will allow installation at locations that are either temporary or do not have a water source nearby.

Features & Functionality of the Nuova Simonelli MicroBar

  • Compact: With all the characteristics of a professional espresso machine, this machine packs a lot of punch in its compact 13 inch footprint.
  • Easy-to-use: With a push of a programmable button, you'll be preparing tasty creamy drinks without having to lift another finger
  • No Training Required: If you don't have time to show each and every one one of your baristas the tricks of the trade, this machine will train users easily. With a push of a button, they'll be making espressos, lattes, cappuccinos and more.

1. Can the Microbar produce "real" espresso (= something remotely approaching an E61 machine)?
2. How would you rate the reliability of Microbar (if kept clean and uses only softened water)?

Thank you.

How does it compare to the ProntoBar?
steve s on Jan 30, 2015
Best Answer: This will be the little brother to the Prontobar. The Prontobar can handle more drinks per day, has more programmability, a bit more user friendly, and has larger capacities like in the dump box and bean hopper.

What psi is necessary for direct connect? Working on a RO system and want to assure correct psi output.
Terry on Sep 18, 2015
Best Answer: With a plumbed in machine, you will want to be working with about 2-4 bars of pressure for your incoming water supply. Be sure to test what pressure you're having come into the machine, as sometimes water lines will have much more pressure, and that increased pressure can be harmful and wear down the machine quickly. If you have too much pressure, use something to step down the pressure so that it's appropriate.

How many shots per hour?
Jamie S on Jan 13, 2015
Best Answer: This can comfortably produce about 75 shots per hour. Just keep in mind that you wouldn't want to run the machine like that endlessly, which will wear on the machine quickly. Instead, that should cover your peak times when you will be serving the most drinks, with most of your other time being valleys were you don't put as much strain on it. Also, since this is a superautomatic machine it can be prone to clogging if you decide to use a dark roast or an oily bean, so we generally recommend using a medium roast so that you don't have to do continual maintenance or unclogging of the grinder.
