Overview

For the minimalist in your life, there is no greater coffee accessory than one they'll use. The Osaka Stainless Steel Pour Over offers an elegant, single-piece brew method that eliminates the need for anything more than ground coffee, hot water, and mug. Cone and filter both, its two-layer mesh design keeps fines contained and leaves you with a full-bodied cup every time.

Features and Functionality

  • Laser-cut Mesh - An outer medium-fine mesh and an inner ultra-fine mesh offer a full-bodied cup with few fines.
  • Reusable - Resilient stainless steel can be washed and reused over and over, saving you from disposable paper filters.
  • Full Body - The steel mesh of the Osaka cone lets through coffee oils for a richer feeling cup.
Pros
  • Tough Traveler - One solid piece of steel and no filters makes this pour over an easy pick for travel.
  • Rich Cups - Bold coffee lovers, this is your pour over. With none of the oils stripped from the brew, you get richer, thicker cups rivaling a French press (but without the mud).
  • Reusable - While the argument over coffee sustainability rages on, take comfort knowing that you're eliminating paper waste from your daily coffee preparation.
  • By Extension... - You'll never run out of filters again, it's an oddly comforting idea.
Cons
  • Messy Cleanup - We missed the simplicity of tossing your filter—grounds and all—after a brew. You'll have to wash this pour over out after every use.
  • Pooled Grounds - The tip of the cone is capped in solid steel. You'll end up with a little liquid that doesn't strain from the cone after brewing.
SCG Staff Says...

The first time you use the Pour Over Cone, it feels like you'll spill everywhere! Watching it brew through the lower sides of the filter without making a mess both looks good and gives you visibility to any uneven extractions you may be getting.

How Does it Compare?

The Osaka Cone Dripper is really its own beast. It's most similar to a metal-filtered Chemex.

Tips and Tricks

The fine filter design means you'll want to grind slightly coarser than you would for a Chemex or V60, try sea salt-esque grounds at first and work from there.
