A Note About Coffee & Cups

Let us break it down for you: Although 8 ounces equals a cup in the baking world, a US cup of coffee is measured at 6 ounces and a European cup of coffee is measured at 4.25 ounces. This is why we sometimes list ounces to paint a more accurate picture of capacity.

  • Durable! - This press made to last and its stainless steel craftsmanship makes it perfect for camping and outdoor entertaining.
  • Handwash - While this press is built to take a beating, we recommend hand washing to protect its high gloss finish.

Is that plastic around the plunger screen?
Sandy J on Jan 17, 2016
Best Answer: I will gladly answer that question as soon as I receive the coffee press. I ordered all 3 sizes. And the travel press. I live in the Caribbean so it'll take a few more weeks to arrive at my door. I'm quite excited about this product design and the positive reviews on the Brand design and quality.

Re: Planetary Design. Would I need a second thermal carafe to be able to drink hot coffee over 1-3 hours? Joe's video said French Pressed coffee tastes bad if left seeping in.ground s over time. Some days I drink three mugs one right after the other. Other days I go back for my 3rd cup two hours later and the coffee is undrinkably burnt.

French press seems appealing as it's limited fuss that I can brew in volume. Like the idea of aeropress except that it brews so little at a time (unless it can make a good tasting 12oz mug Americano )

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Best Answer: No matter what brewing method you use, you absolutely need a good vacuum thermos if you want to keep the coffee for later. I know a couple different coffee houses that brew a large pot of french press and keep it in a vacuum pot to serve by the cup. HydroFlask, KleanKanteen, Stanley, there's a lot of them.

The aeropress makes a fine americano, but I think my usual size is 10 oz. What's great about it is 1. it's a really fast way to brew, 2. the cleanup is fast & easy, just pop it into the compost or trash and rinse, no mess whatsoever, and 3. fantastic for travel.

(very) clumsy-friendly, great purchaseReview by jukes
i bought this after giving it much thought, i am a rather frugal consumer and went for it, i purchased this for short travels such as out of town trips, weekend road trips etc.

i can just throw in my weekender bag. i pack very light and don't mind bringing it along, but if you are pack-weight-conscious of course it is a bit bulky. i rather have good coffee than additional outfits, but that's just me. i've brought along frenchpress-ready coarse grounds in my bag for short trips, and an air-tight container if longer than a day/2 travels.

i am quite pleased about how sturdy it is vs say, thinking about traveling with a brittle glass bodum, or a not-so good press/tumblr option –which i considered doing but knew the glass would get broken at some point..
i've had this press for about 6 months now, and i not only use it for small travels as originally intended, but have been brewing coffee alongside my home french press as a second round for weekend mornings so it is ready, also keeps coffee warm, not piping hot, but hot enough for lazy sundays =]

super easy to clean.
mine is a 32 oz in chrome. (Posted on 12/18/2016)
Plunger RedoReview by Pete
One of the plastic "teeth" on the bottom of the plunger has broken off. I believe this might have been better designed.

solid french pressReview by Orion
A well built french press. The medium sized one is perfect for two of us. Don't pour too aggressively, sometimes the seal in the front drips a little. (Posted on 12/24/2014)
Better than BodumReview by Paeonia_9
I was going to buy glass replacement carafes for the various sizes of Bodum presses I have, but after the realization that I would be replacing the glass on my 8 cup Chambord for the 6th time I decided to go with something made for clumsy folk such as myself. I'm very glad I did.
This is a very well made press. The filter is slightly finer than the one on my Bodum. I still get "mud", but only the tiniest bit. It has a ring of flexible plastic around the filter that contours perfectly to the side of the pot so no large grinds get through.
But the best part is that my coffee stayed respectably hot for over 3 hours. Also, the carafe never becomes too hot to touch. I love it! (Posted on 9/13/2013)
