Rockin' it old school with your trusty original Rancilio Silvia Version One steam wand? We have a replacement part ready for you! Just know that the upgraded Version 3 steam wand is heavier duty and swivels much more than the original Version One arm, but...Hey, nothing wrong with keeping it real...Version One all the way!
Watch the video (shown here with the Version 3 upgrade kit) for an idea of what is involved in replacing the current wand. If you are not comfortable doing this upgrade yourself, we recommend that you take your Silvia to your local espresso machine repair shop to have the replacement arm installed. We cannot provide technical assistance for this upgrade, although we would be happy to install this for you in our repair center.
Best Answer:Yes, however the retaining nut (Rancilio) needs to be exchanged with the Gaggia nut. This requires either cutting or bending the Gaggia steam wand.
The Rancilio nut can be removed (along with mini metal washer) by unscrewing the nozzle and carefully sliding insulation rubber sleeve. A rubber mini washer may be needed on the insertion part of the replacement (Rancilio) steam wand - above and not in contact with the nut.
Short answer is it should. I used it on a Gaggia Coffee, which is very very similar to a classic and it worked great. Other articles on coffee sites that talk about having to bend the old wand and sand the finish off of the replacement to make it all work but I did not have to do any of that. It was simple off and then simple on.
Yes it can! You need to bend the existing Gaggia wand with pliers to get the metal ring off. It all fits perfectly. I did need to purchase a small rubber O-ring separately at my hardware store since this did not come with any O-rings and I damaged the existing O-ring when I first tried to install.
Best Answer:To my knowledge I've seen only two steam assembly connections; via Youtube, if it's all external then it will work. There is one model of Gaggia that you have to open the top to access the steam assembly. Just remove your existing steam wand with the nut showing and give gentle tug to see if it comes apart: or look at a parts list diagram to see if it parts there. If so you CAN, if not, no fret either; because I think you can use the newer Rancilio wand MOD with the ball joint action in such a case. However, like I said, it has to be done at the steam assembly inside the top of the machine.
Best Answer:I do not know first hand, but there's something you can try before hand, make a mental picture of the Rancilio/mod a the end were it will install to the machine, then look for a visible nut were your Saeco frothing wand comes out of yours. Loosen it if you can and gently tug on it to see if it will remove after taking off the bolt all you will have to do is compare the two ends somewhat to see if it may be do-able. I'm sure the pressure and the steam function will work but the fit could be either basic or could be somewhat complicated. Also, search 'Videos' concerning moding your machine in this way, you may find someone has done it... Hope this helps.
My Rancilio v1 was one of the ones that came with a tip with multiple holes vs. just one. Can I buy just the tip, or would I have to buy the whole wand or upgrade to v3?

Best Answer:You would need to replace the whole wand with the upgrade kit. Unfortunately the threading on the end of the V1 steam wands are slightly smaller, so just buying the tip would not thread on properly. Sorry!
The first mod to your Gaggia Classic!Review by Andrew
This is a great replacement to the Gaggia Classic stock wand that limits the ability of such a great machine! Thanks to SCG for carrying this part as its hard to find (or it was for me). The swap was super easy and the wand made my lattes so much nicer. Great steam wand at a decent price! (Posted on 3/4/2016)
